if what Santora says is true, then the mayor & all the members of the Common Council have their own personal agenda, former mayors get to run hotels, we wonder what gifts await the present administration when their service comes to a end, government by the people for the people, really, really no wonder they want to grease the wheels by paying special groups or intrests

we like others do not subscribe to Time Warner, so public access channel is a moot point, as for trans-party, really, how transparent is it when a citizen has to have the favor of the council-person at large to ask a question at a public meeting as she has stated before it's her meeting and she will run it her way, just ask JM, he has had the privilege of being shot down when asking a question, if this bull about providing access to all taxpayers, is the true goal, then why don't this down load the meetings on the city web site, that way all taxpayers can view weather they have a computer or not, how you say, easy go to the library they have computer access for all

TRR Productions will seek underwriting/sponsorship from the public and receive an additional 25% commission. Only those who have Time Warner can view Access 12. The franchise fee from Warner has nothing to do with the operation of the station. It is a revenue that goes in to the General Fund to support the cost of the City services.

It has been verified several times the City receives over $132,000 in franchise fees and they give this group only a thousans per month?? Open government telecasts are one thing but I don't think the community wants to see every government meeting. Council meetings would be just fine and hopefully they will have the entire community in mind and not th stupid college progrsmming I have seen on the college channel.Used to be a good local channel and I thought those volunteers did a good job and gave us good local stuff

I agree with Chuck392. There is much money given from franchise fees so Dunkirk government will make out well. The money is not from the taxpayers so they aren't loosing out a cent. There is also more to running a access studio than money. It is a 24-7 thing. If there is a problem like power or equipment failure you are there till it is fixed. One piece of replacement equiptment can eat up your little $1,000 a month for a long time. Good luck, I will wait till end of year to see how it works.

The need for open govt.....hmm. Anyone that has Dish or Direct TV doesn't have a local channel. If you want to know what goes on at the meetings go to them. Then you can even speak up. If you think govt will ever be open you are kidding yourself. Instead of volunteers now Dunkirk taxpayers will foot the bill.

Not knowing how much the budget is, or how much the city receives in franchise fees from Time Warner, my guess is that the money coming from Time Warner more than ofsets the expenses.
