June 7, 2013

This is appalling. Just like all the other money that too many of our congress people spend..our buy themselves cars, take trips, live lavish lifestyles.

Why are they paid so well to do nothing? Where are THE JOBS???? Why are not we all outrages at this do nothing Congress? Oh..never mind, we are outraged...Congress now has an 80% DISAPPROVAL of their job performance. I would rate them even lower.

Shameful behavior by IRS staff. Kind of a “get back at you” mentality for the federal wage freezes – “You won’t give us raises, so we’ll find other ways to get something.”

Here’s another recent one, this time by government contractors at the EPA: A recent audit by its inspector general found that contractor employees had turned part of a 70,000 sf warehouse in Maryland into a huge “man cave” – complete with chairs, couches, TVs, kitchen appliances and “surplus” EPA gym equipment. Your tax dollars at work...

Too bad, because I believe the feds I know here in DC, civilian and military, are dedicated to serving the public and the country, working for “the greater good.” But all it takes is a few bad apples to paint everyone with the same brush. (Mixed metaphor, I know.)

This is the same government that is telling us that Social Security and medicare must be reformed because they are no longere afordable. The only thing that makes the IRS different from the rest of government is that the IRS has been exposed. Take the fraud, waste and abuse out of our goverment and the budget problems would go away.

DKexpat is correct -- the number of honest, ethical, caring hard-working govt employees far, far, far outnumber the abusers.

But the clueless church lady gaggle OBSERVER board makes zero mention of this fact.

Likewise for the GOP dominated House -- of the 138 bills voted on by the House, only ONE was a job bill. The rest? Naming post offices, repealing Obamacare, anti-abortion -- the usual nonsensical stuff one should expect from Tea Baggers.

1 of 2:

Here’s an example of a dedicated federal worker - -

A friend is career Air Force. Due to his “interesting job,” he deploys to Afghanistan – 6 times so far – for 10-12 weeks at a time – way out in the boonies teaching the latest in close-air support to certain high-contact units.

I can tell when he’s getting ready to leave because he’s been out running 10 miles/day in case, as he puts it, he has to run like heck up or down a mountain.

He could retire today and, with his clearances, easily make $50-60k+/yr more in the private sector.

But he doesn’t: “If not me, it’d be someone else, and I have a duty to see this through.”

Each time, the night before he deploys, he gathers all the kids into one bed and holds them until they cry themselves to sleep because daddy is leaving again – they’re old enough to understand that means into harm’s way.

We should all be thankful for that kind of dedicated federal worker.

There’s nobody angrier at things like IRS/GSA parties than someone like him. And he’s not alone – I have neighbors in similar GS-pay positions as the IRS creep who took the 5th, and they’re angry, too.

So, no, it’s not yesterday’s news...and all Americans should be outraged at “Feds Gone Wild.”

Dcronig-the Senate is required by law to propose a budget, this year was the first in four years. Were your Dem friends with Harry at the helm above the law for the other three? Why is Sen reed sitting on the 12 or so job creation bills? Why hasen't he put them on the docket?

Off topic a little but shows the mentality of our government "President Barack Obama on Friday defiantly defended the government's newly revealed telephone and Internet spying programs on grounds that Americans must tolerate what he dismissed as "modest encroachments on privacy" in the name of security."
