Sarah, Dick cheney is not in office any more. Any smart person would know that the liberals would support such measures as done with the NSA as the left lionized lenin , hitler and stalin. On hitler they had to back track some as he went a little over board the libs thought.Since the libs are against profiling, they call it discrimination, then what is left is evryone is a suspect. The govt people backed away from watching islamic centers in boston and away the bombers went. Better to rant against citizens united, which Obama does often and target the tea party, which he did. So Sarah, please your feigned innocence and shock is showing.

Apparently we have freedom of speech unless the speech embarasses government. Whatever happened to the country that respected the constitutional rights of it's citizens? The Patriot Act was a giant step toward government intrusion into our lives. What I see is a growing discontent with the abuse that Americans are being subjected to in the name of "national security".

It is illegal intrusion by our government for any reason. Whistle blowers in most cases have done the right thing and in this case everybody should be for him and against anyone who wants to prosecute him. The Patriot Act was wrong and unconstitutional when it was passed and even more so now. So while I wouldn't call him a hero he is no foe to American citizens.

If you think China and others aren't hacking and spying on us you are kidding yourself. If he didn't want to participate why did he ever seek employment with the CIA??? He should be brought back and punished.

It's a hard call on this guy. He's a foe by releasing secrets our nation used to hunt terrorists but on the other hand, he's a friend for informing the American people their every move is being monitored by the government. Just read this the other day. What would Thomas Jefferson say about him?

Experience hath shewn, that even under the best forms, those entrusted with power have, in time, and by slow operations, perverted it into tyranny; and it is believed that the most effectual means of preventing this would be, to illuminate, as far as practicable, the minds of the people at large, and more especially to give them knowledge of those facts....Thomas Jefferson

Stang-have to agree with you on the tough call. However when entrusted with sensitive information you/we/I do not divulge that information to anyone. If one believes that what they are directed to do is unlawful then there are protocols within the system to address concerns. Releasing information to media outlets should only be done when all other efforts within the system(fully documented)had been exhausted. As you well know, even when given an order in the military you need not heed that order if you know it to be unlawful and if you do can be subject to action under the UCMJ.

We have been being watched by the government for years. Every bank transaction. every credit card use, every telephone call is recorded. You can go no where in these United States without the government knowing you where abouts. They know what television programs you watch. What you post on facebook or on line. So why should we be shocked? This country is no different than a communist country. The only difference is that we are leaning towards socialism where the other countries already have it.
