June 19, 2013

When is a pay raise a cut? That is the question city of Dunkirk Assessor Tom Mleczko must be wondering after Common Council increased his salary from $36,000 to $36,720 beginning in 2014....

we wonder with all the impending financial woes hanging over the city, will the mayor and council take a pay cut or take on more duties, the answer is no ,what they will do is give more money away to boards like the DHC and cable access, cuts need to be made every where ,not on council members personal agenda and glad handing, the only thing missing phony comment from councilman Rivera about how ill he is over this....

Well let's see. Using Common Council logic since Brooks Hospital is reported to be laying off 30 employees anyone remaining on Brooks payroll should receive a pay raise because they might be doing a little more work. Nothing personal here and I'm sure Mr. Mleczko is a fine man but the purpose of a job elimination is to reduce expenses, not to redistribute the income from the eliminated position. Dunkirk is facing the most severe financial challenges in the history of the city. You would think our leaders would be a little more prodent in how they spend our money. I might add that the abuse of overtime in the city is insane and further proof that the animals are running the farm. With the absense of leadership there can be no hope for what used to be a beautiful city.

Duh Dolce....."I don't know". Don't you think he should know. It appears Kiyak is the only one who has a business head. She should be the Mayor. Time after time she makes the right call. I say Kiyak for Mayor!!!

Well Tom my SS check was increased 1.3% however the net was $350.00 a year less because of medicare costs. Dear Phil...Tom took on the new duties at LESS than it was costing the city..not re-distributing the costs. How about the 12 grand for the CCTV.???

O.T. is being abused and management is the biggest abuser because they have nobody to answer to. Want to save money get rid of the D.P.W. director.
