Why isn't the Seneca Nation paying for their own housing???? They make millions at their casinos and refuse to pay their share for taxes, then we use our tax money to build on the reservation while we cut them better deals to try and get the money they agreed to pay us!!!!! Enough! I did not take their land and I am tired of working to give them more and more. While my taxes improve the reservation my city is falling down around me.

Notalways, said it all. The Government does this all the time & then I cannot rent out my property, because they (Government) pays for low income housing. I now just pay taxes & try to sell my so called Income Property !!!

This is the most outrageous use of taxpayer money that there is. NO way should taxpayer money be given to them. They make millions and pay no taxes.

Just keep sending the same idiots back to Washington and things will be fine! The Senecas rip us off at the casinos, rip us off at the gas stations, pay no taxes but somehow they are entitled to $2.5 million of our tax dollars while we try to figure out how to cut social security and medicare. Those who pay taxes should be outraged!!!!!!!

"..HUD is awarding $563 million to 353 American Native entities."

Just when you thought you've heard it all!?!? What's next? Based on HUD's reasoning, the US govt should also build them new schools, hospitals, libraries, etc.

Our elected reps our literally thumbing their nose at American taxpayers with this "gift" of over half a billion $$$!

Our govt is NOT and should NOT feel obliged to help improve living conditions on the rez, especially since NAs quickly cite sovereignty to exempt them from contributing anything towards US govt-funded programs. Then again, look at how many billions of $$$ (of OUR money) politicians give to foreign countries EVERY year, most of which despise us.

Really Phil, how do they rip you off at their gas stations? If you feel that way then why do you buy your gas there each week? You don't have to come there and pay $3.19, stay in town and pay more. We all know why you buy your gas there...to save $$$ just like the rest of us! Don't be a hypocrate...you can't have it both ways!

NYYANKEE2U2 - The per gallon tax in New York State is reported to be 68.9 cents per gallon, second only to California at 72 cents. When did you ever see a spread that large between reservation prices and local prices? More often than not it is more like 20-30 cents difference. Why is it when the price of oil rises gasoline prices go up like a rocket ship but let there be a decline in the price of oil the price of gas comes down like a parachute. The bottom line is the Senecas not only make the normal margin on gas, they make an additional margin because of their tax free status. Now do you believe me?

The natives are always doing this, thumbing their collective noses at the Government, while holding out their hands for more Freebies. I've said it before and I'll say it again, we don't do this for Canada, so if the Seneca's are a separate "nation", then let them figure out a way to finance their own stuff.

Phil..I do understand that..but my question to you was, if you feel they rip you off..why do you still go there each week to buy their gas???
