Water isn't finite. It's a renewable resource. It's how we manage it that makes it finite.

Folks the amount of water on Earth is fairly constant. And has been for a very long time. Now some of you may not believe this but a check on Google will give you the information you need. Water is finite. That is why when we are long gone wars will be fought over water. Check it out. Oh and comets do not get close enough to the earths gravity to provide any water from their tails. sorry.

A typical political answer. The entire United States is experiencing a heat wave. Notice I said entire country not state and Cuomo is using this to make a case for NRG. How insane. Did Cuomo call for the building of seawalls when Sandy hit to protect those people? No. Matter of fact it took two months or more for people to get electricity. So is NRG going to invest $500,000 for a hot summer? Doubt it.

hey 2252, you are mistaken. the earth has more water than when it was created. You know less than you think. Comets dump millions of tons a water on the earth every year. Fact. If we had not burned hydrocarbons the water would be about equal ,as plants split the water to make wood. except for the comets. every gallon of gasoline makes a gallon of water. Suppose we use pedal power cars like flinstone. My rough calculation is we add a hundred million gallons a day of water to the earth. this would not include the burning of natural gas which adds even more water. The earth is an open system 2252. Thunderstorms bring in lightning from 200 miles above the earth.this is all known now except to you 2252.

Boys oh boys..the earth has as much water today as it did when created. Water cannot excape the pull of gravity. The only problem is distribution. The great African desert was a sea once. 536 A.D. and there was no coal burning plants then !

Judeye, the people i heard that was not in support of the NRG project were not talking about reducing just replacing. They either wanted to replace it with "green" energy or not in their back yard energy philosophy. They all came out in support of National Grids plan which would buy power from the lowest cost power supplier which without a doubt would be the dirtiest. If that is not hypocrisy at its best, i do not know what is. The best thing is to read all the facts and not just one side, that is ignorance of the facts.

Cuomo is looking out for one thing only. To try to be the next idiot in charge like Obama is. Neither one cares about the people or their needs. Only about what the party dictates.

Make that $500 million (1/2 billion) that NRG wants to spend in Dunkirk. What government in it's right mind would turn their backs on that?

The governor has been very agressive lately in his persuit of new businesses. "come to New York State and we will give you 10 years of no taxation" said Governor Cuomo. We love new business, is the sggestion. Well, if we really love business how about showing a little love and resect for the businesses we already have? Why not show a little appreciation for the $500,000 that NRG wants to spend in Dunkirk? Why not show a little desire for the preservation of existing jobs and not just the jobs that come with new business? Just imagine the jobs and prosperity Dunkirk would have if we just cound have saved Alco, Great Lakes Color Priting, Roblin Seel, Alumax. Krat Foods. Marsh Valve, Allegheny Ludlum, Van Raalte and all those stores tha we lost in our business district. Mr. Governor -where are you and what are you thinking?

hey cronig, now the unlearned scientists are saying that the deep ocean is absorbing heat as the earths temp is not rising even with co2 rising in air. water can absorb heat. so the libs put up the argument that it, the ocean is. trouble is, noone has deep ocean measurements. What they still have to explain is , and the weather people say it on tv , is this. You can have all the water and heat in the air you want. Unless there is some trigger and this trigger is definately not heat, it will NOT rain. we will swelter, but no rain falls. Facts right from the weathermen on tv. This would also explain why a certain % of hurricane forecasts go wrong.Again, right from PBS, not foxnews. Go ponder cronig and judeye, ponder.

The learned liberals like cronig and judeye dont know how a grid or power system works. It must be big enough to handle surges or heavy demand. Most of the time it is not needed amnd appears to be a waste to the luddite cronig. My well pump , half horse, 3750 rpm runs at about 900 watts or so. But to start, it draws 80 amps for a few tenths of a second. This can be measured. If the portable generator is < 3000 watts, it will not start it. even a 5000 watt generator will stagger and the lights will dim. The lights dim even when connected to the grid. So cronig tell us of the investment in green energy and the flight of industry out of europe because of green power concerns. Those dumb liberals .

I doubt Cuomo's remarks where aimed at saving NRG he likely was making points for helping national grid rebuild and update the grid so we can import power from Canada,PA and Ohio that's his agenda. Heard he has been spending a lot of Canadian money around Albany.

for judeye and cronig, since we are always adding water via combustion , and the only way water is reduced in the planet , barring some yet unkown disassociation factor , is photosynthesis , we might expect water levels to rise. Plants split the water cronig and judeye, they frack that sacred substance. Judeye, are you scared yet. we could run of water ! the hydrogen goes into the wood and the oxygen is released to the air. the co2 is not split for oxygen. science libs. water traps heat many times, any analytical chemist, thats real science cronig, not the junk you say, knows this.but it is a water planet, right cronig so the added water will not be noticed vs the mega tons in the air and mega trillions in the oceans. cronig , tell me and others we are all wrong. Cronig and judeye are right ! the two most foolish posters, cronig and judeye !I have said science, they say drivel.

this is how cronig and judeye work. announce that others are illiterate with a series of name calling and junk science claims. Cronig is good with adjectives, names , flowery language. Unfortunately, he knows no science. Judeye merely parrots what she reads and claims to be original. Both ignore real science here, the discussions between einstein and bohr on how the world we live in arises from the world of heisenberg uncertainty.Richard Feynman, nobel winner, said the 2 slit experiment was the main mystery of all. cronig, tell me how unscientific i am . use names ! judeye, you be a good parrot and say more of your fire and brimstone religion, climate change due to co2. It is a scam pure and simple. This is science posters, not the stuff cronig and judeye try and pass off. they do not know real science. the illiterate are trashing the nobel achievers and those that built the world we live in. scientific facts cronig, look it up, but i bet you wont understand them.

cronig and judeye, you dont even know what I am talking about in the perkin elmer thing do you ? Church lady gaggle again. Cronig I am well versed in science, unlike you. How is it my products have sold 9 figures, hundreds of millions in case you and judeye dont understand simple stuff around the world. I say again. A gallon of gasoline produces a gallon of water when burned. . Water absorbs heat many many times that of co2. judeye did ya ever boil water ? we are adding water to the planet constantly with combustion, plus the water it picks up from outer space via comets . facts cronig , facts.so the libs could not say reduce your water footprint could they. judeye and cronig this is irrefutable science, the perkin elmer stuff will hold up in court as I have been nearly drawn into court many times in the chemical industry. Perkin elmer and my other science skills saved me.

cronig and judeye, the most scientific illiterate posters are at it again. cronig, you are name calling again. you accuse others of it , but it is ok for you. Hey judeye, you are the most illiterste of all. CO2 does not capture heat. If you say it does, then you trash, perkin -elmer and the entire chemical industry. Infra red by perkin elmer is a std repeatable test. judeye, it is you and cronig wwho are the stupid ones.judeye, you know nothing of science, just parrot the libs confusion. Hey cronig, all that renewable energy investment is subsidized and requires a so called fossil fuel back up. This on PBS numerous times.Cronig, the numbers man, does he not realize that the wind does not blow 24/7 and neither is the sun 24/7 ? I am unscientific. Cronig, your nuts pure and simple. cronig and judeye, ever hear of the fracking boom ?

I do agree that investment in renewable energy is increasing, and will continue along that trend. However, why would you let the energy sector fall down before the other is fully established? The other part of dcrack's comment is the term "globally"... the power plant and uses are in Western NY, which is where your money should stay.

Steinerdzzz, for the past 2 years, renewal energy investment across the globe was greater than fossil fuel investment. This trend is forecasted to increase for the next decade.

The usual drivel? That's you.

We liberals use research, data, quantitative analyses and forecasting -- you know, science and numbers.

You...don't even use Google.

So...4 days of 90 degree humid weather justifies a half-billion dollar investment??? Really?

This twisted logic from the clueless church lady gaggle OBSERVER board cries out the extent their pathetic desperation, not to mention how sublime their unashamed ridiculousness is.

Quite frankly, most of us have made concerted efforts to reduce our "footprint". I would further evidence this by the fact that politicians continue to drive out the local populations, thus further decreasing our "carbon footprint" and tax base. Energy is a constant need, and has peaks and valleys. If you remove the power sources from NY, then others will be able to charge more and utilize other non-carbon friendly technologies. Support the conversion and support fracking and keep your money in NYS.

This has NOTHING to do with NRG. We all should be conserving our energy no matter who or where or how it is generated. To think that we can just continue to use energy anytime we want without any thought of trying to reduce our consumption is STUPID.

We all should be trying to reduce our carbon footprint on the planet. To continue to ignore our impact on our environment is not only ignorant..but dangerous.

For this paper to suggest that a call to reduce energy...is reflective of the need to produce more through converting a plant to natural gas is illogical at best, misleading, and downright just plain ignorant of the facts.

The govs comments echoed prez carter in the 70's. AC's at 78 F. Those libs sure do love misery. The carter years were misery. Cuomo did not learn too much in the interim too. You think cuomo would encourage AC as it was invented , oops, he did not build that, by an Angola NY native. Those democrats. We need to hear the usual drivel, conservation and the use of green. clean renewable energy. Liberals where are you ? Of course, much of the time the wind speed was too low to be of use and of course the sun is not 24/7. Little facts like that elude our scientific minded liberals.
