Differences can divide

July 23, 2013

I was a bit aghast when I first heard about the trials and tribulations of Paula Deen. I certainly don’t wish to endorse disrespect between people in any way....

Democrats believe freedom of speech only applies to what they say. Everyone else should just keep their opinions and facts to themselves. Right Marcia?

What ever happened to freedom of speech? I basically believe that respect and acceptance are priviledges that you earn through your accomplishments, values and behavior. Respect and acceptance are not entitlements that you can get through legislation. When our ancestors came to this country they were all minorities and many of them suffered discrimination. They didn't look to government to solve the problem and they didn't make excuses for their failures. They rolled up their sleeves, went to work and earned respect and acceptance the right way and the hard way.

@Steiner, we probably share a lot of the same opinions, but I have to say, you've spent the last 2 weeks regurgitating the same irritating drivel. You're no better than the posters you so despise, like cronLg. You're spewing the same utter nonsense on every topic no matter what, and it's working to your detriment. People aren't going to EVER read what you write, even when you may have something intellectual to share.

One problem with the far left like judeye and Marcia is they want "more" equal rights then anyone else. stangv8 you asked the right questions about what opportunities they haven't had because of society that everyone else has had. Which doesn't mean if you didn't get a free after high school education that you didn't have equal opportunity. What job(s) have you tried for but were denied because you were a woman or a black WITH THE SAME QUALIFICATIONS as the next person?

That is, an equal chance to attend schools of our choice. An equal chance to go into careers of our choice. An equal playing field to be hired...and paid...the same as males.

Judeye, what schools didn't you have an equal opportunity to attend? What career did you want to go into that you couldn't?

I'm all for equal opportunity and pay as long as the standards for job qualification are equal too.

hey judeye, obamas views are definately unamerican. especially you did not build that. There are no conservative blacks to be admired then. Right judeye ? Lets see, minoritites need help, women need help , to promote their welfare i think. Thank god or darwin for the libs that men dont need all this special help ! They just do the job . Women have slipped a lot since curie. She did her work before the lib movement. Why have women lagged so much in history ? Have a clue judeye ? Here is why. From conception, their whole outlook and makeup, beyond the obvious ones is different. The men have the fire . The women dont. In quantum phsyics, their debroglie or heisenberg waves are much different then men. This is the reason judeye, but I bet you have not a clue. Science always did elude liberlas. The world comes from the 2 slit world. Try reading up on that.your mind will improve. But you ignore real science at all times. Yet you think you are learned. Its the other way around judeye.

Judeye, Obama didn't grow up in a single parent household most of his life. He had his father till he was about two and then from six to ten he had his step father, Lolo Soetro who adopted him. Does the name Barry Soetro sound familar? At ten he went to live with his grandparents in Hawaii. Except for a few years, he always had a father figure in his life; Lolo and Grandpa.

By his own words, Obama blew off his last two years of high school. Nobody can explain or will explain how he got those scholarships to attend the best schools in America. Nowhere has there been any evidence to show he was a top academic student as his grades are sealed. All we have is you and others telling us how he's such an intellectual. Fellow professors at the University of Chicago tell how his tenure there was nothing but a joke. Has any student even come forward to say they had him as their professor? Other than a community organizer, just what did Obama work at?

hey judeye, women need choice for schools ? How about that for everyone ? I thought the right to vote was all you gals needed. Then it was ERA,that failed, equal pay, was not there an equal pay act in the 60's. Women do not do the same work as men and they want equal pay.lets see, 30 years of more women graduates than men and men still rule the world of business and science. This from women on TV, major networks and PBS, books written by women ,etc. Since men get more nobel prizes in science than gals. we can say women just dont have a flair for science. judeye, will you gals need affirmative action to help what cant be helped ?let us know asap !

Stangv8....which one grew up where?

President Obama is the IDEAL reflection of the "American Dream".

He grew up in a single parent household for much of his life, with his mother receiving food stamps for a period of time. Through his own hard work he was able to get scholarships that led him to get a law degree from one of the leading law schools.

Even conservatives should applaud his success...a true role model for ALL of our children.

AS for the women's movement.....we have always wanted just one basic thing...EQUALITY.

That is, an equal chance to attend schools of our choice. An equal chance to go into careers of our choice. An equal playing field to be hired...and paid...the same as males.

In simple word...EQUALITY. Not so difficult to understand is it?

Hey american, the blacks voted for obama twice. It makes a difference what color your skin is .The WSJ just printed an article saying stop and frisk saved a few thousand lives in NYC. Who was stopped and frisked ? minorities as they do most of the crime. Facts posters, facts. We gotta hear from that learned cronig who constantly says church lady gaggle in mock. But dont dare mock a liberal for cronig erupts in true liberal tolerance. hey cronig, you say use google. Darwins theory, loved by the libs was put forth before the miracle of quantum physiscs. The heisenberg uncertainty world sinks completely the evolution theory in a single shot. You posters should read science and look up facts. Most all of you are woefully ignorant. You seem unaware that you are ! Amazing.

Marcia is just wonderful. Cant we all just get along ? The answer is no. Look at the actions of liberals. Obama actually supported stand your ground early on. Is not zimmerman a mix like obama ? Where is the black outcry or any outcry for the carnage in the cities by , especially for Marcia, democrats. Why are black conservatives villified? everyone of you learned posters missed who invented what. Its all white male for the inportant things. You missed my africa power comment. You posters believe the liberal drivel from cronig and others. Rappers use the N word and other misogynic lyrics. No outcry there. Posters. You just gotta do better. Try reading and thinking. Most unlearned posts here.

I guess you are supposed to admire both because they are both black. Marcia do you admire all black people or white people? Color of someone's skin has no bearing on what kind of person they are. Look at Cuomo, he's white and I can't stomach him any more then I can Obama. I admire and respect Jackie Robinson and all he stood for and did for the black race. And I can not admire Obama for the set backs he has caused to the black race or America. He has undone much of what good black men spent their lives doing.

Marcia, you wonder why someone can admire Dr. Carson but despise Obama? There’s quite a difference between Carson and Obama. First of all, their core beliefs are different; one is conservative and one is liberal. One grew up in the inner cities of America and one grew up in an upper middle class family, living in the better areas. One worked hard for what they achieved and one was given what they got. One has a college track record with his transcripts available while the other nobody knows what he actually did in college as his records are sealed One can account for his life and the other won’t.

Dr. Carson isn’t necessarily for gun control. He’s against people who live in large cities from owning semi-automatic weapons. He has no problem with people in rural areas owning them but feels city dwellers must not be responsible enough. He’s wrong in this belief.

joew, interesting that you think Dr. Carson is wonderful (he seems to be a very accomplished person) but despise President Obama, when their stories or are very similar. They were both raised by single parents, both worked hard to achieve and attended ivy league schools, and became very successful. Oh, and both are for gun control.

PR24601-I as well,we need a leader with vision. Dr Carson overcame the worst, and I mean the worst possible obstacles to be where he now is and only because he worked hard to get there. He and his wife Candy give so much to charity and the scholarship fund they established.

The absolute best statement you have aver made "We agreed that our secret is that we both have been very good at simply accepting each other for who they are. Neither of us has tried to dominate the other. That may sound simple, but I recommend it to the entire population." I agree and highly recommend we all do this, regardless of race, gender, spiritual beliefs, sexual orientation, political opinions, intellect. The world would be a much better place. Thank you for making that statement.

I don't know joew.. "He is an outstanding brain surgeon of worldwide fame, who happens to be a black man." Maybe I'm misinterpreting, it could just be a mention to get his point across. I'm not sure after re-reading.

I happen to like Dr. Carson a lot. I hope he becomes president.

PR24601 I think you missed the context of that statement"who happens to be black"and what was meant by it. Perhaps I'm wrong but I gathered a much different meaning from it. I am not being critical of what you said but rather expressing my opinion as you did. If you have time, read Dr Carson's book "America the Beautiful". Excellent and very enlightening. I wish Obama would read it but I'm afraid the good Dr is probably on the Presidents shi** list after the speech he gave at the National Prayer Breakfast.(sorry Marcia)
