Two men unfit to lead a city

July 25, 2013

Ethics, responsibility and a moral compass. It is what constituents normally demand from those who represent them in government, but the New York City races seem to have taken a step backward....

Maybe Wiener should change party affiliation to Republican, provide a tearful apology to the media with his lovely Christian wife by his side, and declare that God has forgiven him. I have a strong suspicion that if Wiener was a Republican, the letter never would have been sent to the Observer.

Just imagine - a governor and city comptroller capable of expanding *********** and prostitution in a state desperate for revenue. I wonder where that would lead us. Maybe we could tax prostitution and ***********!!!!!!

hey marcia, the observer demonizing democrats ? Did they make spitzer, weiner and the mayor of san diego do what they did ? perhaps a fairness doctrine is in order here. repubs must have affirs , if not trump some up like our great leaders did in duke rape and tawana bradley. learned posters ?

americans comment is dead on. democratic women are less attractive than repub women. marcia, women superior ? Hardly, i say again , almost all the business and science done by men. macia is like judeye, parrots the same liberal nonsense. It takes two to have sex. The women for kennedy, clinton , berlesconi and around the world seemed to throw themselves at the men. Huma and Hillary had to or wanted to ride their hubbies coattails into power. plain and simple.I love it when this happens.

Regionalized Government is not elected representation. People are governed by an appointed bureaucracy and not accountable to the people. Local control is diminished. This is not a conservative direction. It is moronic. Shared services and consolidation is not Regionalization. Conservatives do know what the word means. You don't PhilJulian.

Well Marcia it would seem to me unless someone is of the mold of Blarney Franks that for everyone of those "morally inferior" men you hate so much that it takes at least one (or more) of those "morally superior" women that you think so highly of.Men are no worse then women in this respect because unless he is having an affair with himself then it takes a female (unless you are a homosexual) to complete the tryst. Or doesn't that compute in your " women just have better morals" misandric little head.

"Maybe women have better morals."???

Yeah, right! It takes two, and rape doesn't constitute an affair. If the morally superior gender ain't givin' it up....

How ironic, a journalism outlet critiquing politicians on "morality". Hahahaha.

They're all crooked. They sleaze to get into power, what makes you think they'd change after election? They just sleaze all around, in business, in ethics, in relationships. Essentially 500+ sleazeball salesmen on the road away from spouse and kids for that much time, what do you think is going to happen? Surprised more aren't caught.

Well Judeye I know of a parent that stays home with her son. She is the wife of your good friend WEINER!She is allowed to be a stay at home Mom because she is a "Special Government Employee". However she only receives $135 THOUSAND a year as a consultant to the State Department! Oh and she also is in receipt of an additional $335 THOUSAND per year as a consultant to one of those evil private corporations. Perhaps we can engage Rolling Stoned to investigate?

One reason I think female politicians don't have more sex scandals is easy to understand. Just look at Hillary's or Pelosi's face to see.

"Nikki Haley: Haley is currently the governor of South Carolina" " Congresswoman Helen Chenoweth: One of the voices criticizing Bill Clinton in the Lewinski Scandal; turns out she herself had an extramarital affair with Vernon Ravenscroft (one of several lovers" Those were two that were easy to find. There may be others but if you want more names Marcia then you need to look yourself.

joew, you are right. i found one in recent US history: Helen Chenoweth, Republican Congresswoman from Idaho Her offense: After attacking her Democratic opponent by lumping him in with Bill Clinton, whose behavior in the Monica Lewinsky scandal had “severely damaged his ability to lead our nation, and the free world,” she admitted to a six-year affair with a married man who later worked for her congressional staff.

phil, dont give liberals facts, they dont understand them.Detroit is a succes story to them. right libs? hey marcia, I am well read in history. i do not know of any womanizing that tops the kennedys or clinton. Please enlighten us. Other women , even after the libs called the women spilling the beans on clinton, bimbos voted for clinton.those women sure are smart and deserve to rule eh Marcia? I got a neat book on kennedy womanizing. they practically threw themseves at them. So marcia, let us know if any party tops the democrats for womanizing. That is not sexist to the lib women, thats what they burned their bras for. help us out marcia, judeye and christopher too. Maybe we could unionize women for womenizing.. Show that we care.

judeye says no moral decay. Out of wedlock births have skyrocketed since the liberal 60's. judeye has a knack for missing the obvious. Poverty and single motherhood go hand in hand . judeye, look at the inner cities. 70% is the out of wedlock birth rate, crime is rampant, women head the households and marcia wants females ruling ! Marcia, are you dyslexic ? The libs waged a war on men. The guys gave us the science and business and the libs want female rulers.unlearned liberals and especially the gals, lets hear your response.

JUDEYE - those unions that you love killed the City of Detroit along with their Democratic politicians. As for our forefathers ad moral decay, yes, they had their share of infidelity but what they did not have is a 50% divorce rate. When they had children they were more likely to take the responsibility seriously and not leave the child's support up to the taxpayers. As for the two worker family, who really makes out? In the typical family with two wage earners roughly 40% oftheir income goes to support government. Is that a good reason to sacrafice family life and raising your own children? CARLAW - A true conservative would support regionalization because it represents smaller government. Unfortunately, most of todays conservatives don't know what the word means.

Marcia, and the other libs are confused. Women hold the moral high ground . Thas a laugh. 53 million abortions and thats the high ground. Women rule the country ? LOL again. They lag hugely in science and business. Marcia , you like the other liberal posters here live in a dream world.Tell us of the great women accomplishments. I will hold my breath as it is short. Judeye and christopher want unions, what the hades the unions got to do with affairs in office. Thats what women are for . The women know it as do the guys. Thats why the women vote democratic .The woman was made for the man. Marylin monro knew that too. does green energy figure in also judeye ?

If only we had unions fighting for decent wages maybe one parent could AFFORD to stay home with the children. Good grief look around...Many families with both parents working are STILL struggling to get by.

My other point is that there has been NO moral decay. Rather we now all know about it when someone has an indiscretion. We all know that Pres Kennedy had affairs, but at the time no one talked about it. In the past women (yes most affairs were by men) just closed their eyes and ignored it if their husband was involved with another woman. You really don't think that Jackie or Maime, et al really did not know
