What a shame that the festival has been cancelled...but it looks like due to poor planning it wouldn't happen. No major sponsor, one vendor and disagreement over how long they should be able to sell beer. Also, they need to communicate more with the other festival committees in the white and blues....Merritt's September fest are all that weekend. Maybe if they start now they may be able to pull this type of festival off next year.....

Another example of not thinking facts of projects enough. From the report coming from the meeting this thing was DOA. Another black eye.

I was really looking forward to this festival, but the Mayor is right, if we don't have a sponsor it is fiscally irresponsible to just go forward with it. Good job on his part for canceling and being willing to take the heat for making the right decision. Let's start working hard now to get a sponsor lined up for next year so we can see this get off the ground.

"The wait is due to HUD's failure to release the city's 2013 Community Development Block Grant funding."

Why is that? The audit, perhaps?

We think the canceling of an event that had PPP is a no-brainer, what stands out is the poor excuse for not hot paving of streets and most of all no true explanation for HUD money being withheld, we think the days of smoke and mirrors when it comes to HUD are about to be exposed
