So, so sad. As a mother of a former high school football player my heart goes out to the family. May you find peace.

This is sad. I remember a player from Westfield getting killed in a high school football game and another from Fredonia crippled for life. Maybe it's time to re-think the way this game in played at the high school level. Is it really worth dying for or being crippled for life? My condolences to the family.

My classmate, Bret Smith, died in 1975 from a similar injury. Life changing for his teammates, classmates and friends. This makes me relive those terrible days. The "gift" we got from Bret and God was that our class bonded and remained very close after graduation 37 years ago. In fact, we have invited his parents, and now his mother to our reunions. It is difficult but with age I would never have wanted my friend to be a vegetable - would rather have him with God, his father, his brother and all his family. I know God is taking care of him and also know that Bret is watching over Damon.
