What will we make of our county?

September 28, 2013

Everything starts with an idea. It may be a good idea or a bad idea, but we’ll never know unless someone has the courage to check it out....

225522 if you would take the time to read the Sea Wall proposal then perhaps you would know what the plan is. The proposal includes renovation of the bathhouse that's across from Main St beach as well as renovations of the JFK a myriad of other amenities like benches, showers by the beach access points, splash pad, gazebo, better parking, kayak/bike/paddle boat rentals, signage and much more. A lot depends on how much funding they get, but this is something that can be done in phases if need be. I think if we fix it up THEN really market it it'll be a successful draw. At the very least it will look a lot better and be much safer.

local resident has it right. It is amazing that with all the postive things we have, we flounder. yet out west, where water is scarce, things boom. They even frack out west. I have had several friends move to Arizona . taxes are cheaper. Something is seriously wrong in NY. we cannot even use a 100,000 gallons of water/day here without a special permit. How does a brewery operate in colorado making millions of barrels of beer a year with a 35 gallon to one gallon ratio of water used to beer made stay in business ?i have read in the observer that activists are afraid we will run out of fresh water ! yes , run out. mental illness seems to be rampant in this area. Proof, read the last article about the LWV and the Sierra club.

Yes, it is amazing that WNY, with access to the largest freshwater source in North America, rail lines, two interstates running through it, all sorts of forestry/wilderness, agriculture, inexpensive housing, can't manage to garner any interest from industry, tourism, and/or other forms of investment. So many resources to take advantage of, and all we can muster is a bunch of service industry business aside from newly-built GEICO and Yahoo, who neither use any of the above.

A stay at the White Inn would be nice. However, people have to have a reason to come here. A concert might do but that is a slight reason. A person near enough to learn about the concert would probably go back to their own home. A person living far enough to need an overnight stay would probably not hear of the concert. So the question is WHY COME TO THE AREA? I don't think a new seawall will do it. There is no bath house or even a john from Main St. to Wright Park. So the question remains: What's the plan?

Say Maggie, the county is doomed. Please read the LWV article on the fromt page. Our activists are not just clueless. they are stupid. This making the graduates return to the county thing. Would this be mandatory ? Obama already has plans to over ride local zoning to make society fairer. Maggie, unless or until we get some sort of manufacturing base, we will all be ignorant , stupid and poor people. its that simple maggie. tourism is low pay.
