Editor, OBSERVER: I read David Dawson’s recent letter in The Post-Journal alleging that as acting county executive in the fall of 1983, he asked the County Legislature to get rid of the County Ho....

Jerome you write an awful lot of negative columns. How about you get off your couch and do something about it. People like you are the real problem. Armchair quarterback.

Trusso you need to get your stories straight. The county home was indeed asked to get rid of in 1983. Aren't you the guy who ran Jamestown into the ground?

Good name for yourself there, "Clowns", I agree whole heartedly! The issue of the county Veterans affairs officer, and how they are selected is legitimate. Apparently you've never had the need to use one, Clowns.

I rode through Albion,Ny this weekend. Albion is a little west of Rochester. And there they were: SAVE OUR COUNTY HOME yard signs. Seems this is a widespread movement now that tax money is tight.

Joe Trusso is correct about Dawson. Mr. Clown is also sort of correct. The Home was in the headlines to sell it. The person at that time was County Ex. Jack Glenzer. I served on the Legislature at that time with Joe. The concern at that time was also the loss of money by keeping the home. At that time the reimbursement rates were different then they are today. After looking in to what the county actually had coming by our Finance Director Bob Beckman, We showed that the County Home was making a profit. The subject was then dropped. Today things have changed.

I've seen combat but must ask, why specificy "combat veterans?" Are we supposedly somehow better then those servicemen, past and present, who haven't seen combat?

Veterans have enough issues without us stratifying ourselves into smaller and smaller groups.
