Call the County office for the aging and volunteer. They will send you some paper work to fill out and you can do something that's really useful and appreciated. Taking a senior to the store who can no longer drive is just one of many things you can do.

Anybody know what the CEO (or whatever title of who is in charge) makes?

United Way, Red Cross, Susan G., all of the "name" "charitable" organizations - complete waste, high overhead, exorbitant salaries, needless expense accounts - all with YOUR DONATIONS! Crooks, all of them.

You want to make a difference? Don't text $10 to the ARC of which less than 60 cents goes towards anything useful. Get your butt out there on the ground and help out. Donate blood. Find local orgs that are helping with disaster relief and give them the money instead. ARC might be omnipresent on camera, but they are not usually the best on the ground.

Don't even get me started on United Way, who has one of the highest wasted dollar ratios of all charities, or Susan G's CEO, the head mouthpiece in pink who gave herself a raise to $600K since apparently a half-mill and unlimited expense account wasn't enough.

Or you can cut out the middle man and donate directly to the local groups that you wish to support.

That's what I started doing when the United Way decided to stop helping fund the Boy Scouts.
