Shutdown: The two sides on health care

October 4, 2013

Some in Congress might have been more interested in delaying Obamacare if they and their staffs had to cope with anything like it. But they do not....

Keep believing the government is there to help you bo(o)b. There are two things the "government" responds to...the threat of losing office and the highest bidder for thier vote. End of story.

"$317 in 2005 to $1,298 in 2013." seriously this doesn't bother you? And during this time deductible were raised, co-pays were raised, you have to go to a doctor in the network or pay more, you have to have written permission to get an MRI from your insurance company, the insurance company tells you which drugs they will pay for....and you think you are keeping our healthcare from being controlled? its already controlled by big banks and investment funds.

Mikey, the ACA is a law....no negotiations anymore. We negotiated when it was first brought up and we dropped the single payer. you guys seem to forget that. The right could have negotiated this for the last six years and instead spent their time voting to repeal it 44 times. Your bad not our.

Stan let me get this straight, this lady had her premiums rise from 327 to 1298 under the current system that you love so much? and under the ACA she can get it for 798?? looks to me like she saved $500 and you seem to think it cost her more somehow?

Is this true?

"Responding to the people's will, House Republicans first voted to fund all of government -- except Obamacare. Obama refused to negotiate and Senate Democrats refused to pass it.

Then the Republicans voted to fully fund the government, but merely delay the implementation of Obamacare for one year. Obama refused to negotiate and Senate Democrats refused to pass it.

Finally, the Republicans voted to fully fund the government, but added a requirement that everyone live under Obamacare. No more special waivers for Congress and their staff, and no waivers for big business without the same waivers for individuals.

Obama refused to negotiate and Senate Democrats refused to pass it. So as you can see, Republicans are the big holdup here." Read it but don't know if I trust the source...

My..my..my, people in California who supported Obamacare are now finding out that if they’re healthy, they’re paying much higher premiums to cover those who have preexisting conditions. This from the San Jose Mercury News

The 64-year-old Danville artist, who survived breast cancer, has purchased health insurance for herself for decades. She watched her Anthem Blue Cross monthly premiums rise from $317 in 2005 to $1,298 in 2013. But she found out last week from the Covered California site that her payments will drop to about $795 a month. But people with no pre-existing conditions like Vinson, a 60-year-old retired teacher, and Waschura, a 52-year-old self-employed engineer, are making up the difference. "I was laughing at Boehner -- until the mail came today,"..."I really don't like the Republican tactics, but at least now I can understand why they are so ****** about this. When you take $10,000 out of my family's pocket each year

Hey joew, do you think the webmaster could have been scared into saying that when in reality it was probably the NSA behind it under obamas orders.

Judeye I have a copy of HR3590 in it's entirety, don't need fact check. Tell me what it is that I said is not correct in my compromise statement? I have as well all the illegal changes, waivers, and subsidies that have been granted!

Judeye-" Then work on a budget to reduce spending AND increase revenues". Translation=pass a bloated budget and then raise taxes to pay for it! The country WILL NOT default on Oct 17,the fear mongering by the Obama crowd is nothing but an effort to stir up the robots on the left.

Actually Judeye I was referring to the policy starting next week that you have to show photo ID to pick up your child from the in store day care center. Yesterday there were two children of color in the center. Pretty darn racist right? I would also tell someone if they can't do the job for which hired, take a hike!

It seems both papers are having the same problem. I'm thinking probably a server problem or an IT meltdown of some type. Ask robot he seems to know everything there is to know. A real legend in his own mind.

oh well....

The shut down is bad. It needs to end. Everyone with half a brain understands that... The debt ceiling must be raised or we will face default and/or credit rating drop. I am not a deadbeat..and either is my Country. Pay the bills. Then work on a budget to reduce spending AND increase revenues.

All my posts that I made this morning have disappeared. Why?

rumblefish..ACA is NOT like anything they have in Canada of France. Gosh we could only WISH it was like that offered in France! That would be single payer...universal health care for all.

Joew...look at factcheck on aca..much of what you said is NOT TRUE. Check it out..not your fault though as many are saying it as if it were fact. Thinking that we are not smart enough to look it up for ourselves.

as for Wegman oh...I so disagree with what they did. Surprise you? Why not just move this employee to an area where it would not go against their religious beliefs? Can you imagine..a line for each...this line no ******s cashier does not believe in birth control...this line no gmo foods..cashier thinks they are poison (they are)..etc etc..you get the point..

would have to know more why they did this. At first glance seems CRAZY to me.

"Its a common republican trick, can;t win the argument? change what you are argueing about"

Yes, because the left would never do such a thing I'm sure.

Seriously your comment reminds me of the "free speech" protests on campus a few years back, and then a few weeks later a conservative was invited to speak on campus and those same left wing "free speech" people showed up and did everything without their power to keep an view besides their own from being heard.
