Judeye, you said: Seriously, do you or anyone think that we should no longer follow the law of our Country?

Judeye, the law is a joke. Obama himself has said the law is a joke by his actions. Issuing waivers to Unions, Congress, and other groups has made it a joke. If it's a law, how can the president issue waivers? Please explain that if you can?

Judeye, those Tea Party extremists, as you call them, represent multi-millions of Americans and are doing exactly what their constituents elected them to do. I know, it’s a strange concept to you and many others on both sides of the aisle to have elected representatives do what they were elected to do. That Tea Party you despise is composed of Democrats, Independents, and Republicans. The GOP despises the Tea Party because their elected representatives won’t kowtow to party leadership. I didn’t elect my representative to support the Party, I elected her to represent me and support the will of those in her district; not the GOP, DNC, or even you.

jaycee...and they have tried to repeal the ACA...how many times?

Each time IT FAILED.

What part of that do they not understand?

Seriously, do you or anyone think that we should no longer follow the law of our Country? Do you think we should change our Constitution and include things like shut down the govt to be included as one of the ways to change an existing law?

Maybe we should change the NFL rules as well..Jon Stewart "Did you see the Giants game on Sunday?" he asked. "They lost 31-7. Do you know what the Giants didn't say after that game? 'If you don't give us 25 more points by midnight on Monday, we will shut down the f**king NFL.'"

stangv8"who shut down the government? Who refuses to sign anything unless his crown jewel is funded? Who's sitting there crying that unless he gets exactly what he wants, he's going to take his toys and go home?"

Easy...THAT BE THE TEA PARTY EXTREMISTS who have taken our Country hostage.

You do know there are Legal ways to change an existing law. They include ways to repeal and amend an existing law. TEA PARTY does not want to use the legal ways. They turn their back to our system of democracy. Instead using methods that many of us call BULLY.

Please show me anywhere in our Constitution or any legal rules where a shut down of our government is considered an option to change an existing law.

They are the KNOW NOTHING bullies who are holding our entire Country hostage because they cannot accept the will of THE PEOPLE.

Spoken like a true clueless liberal. Extremists, terrorists, anarchists, all the name calling by the dems. The TRUTH or otherwise known as FACT is that in 2010 there were 80 or so new blood candidates (aka Tea Party) elected into the House which enabled the GOP to gain control and in the process break up King Obama's stranglehold on our government. Now that they are actually fighting for the people that elected them they are called names and targeted by the IRS.Talk about playground nonsense. These brave new elected officials are just what our country needs and after this behavior by the dems combined with the so called affordable health care act, they will take over the Senate and gain even more of the majority in the House in 2014.

It is time for those of us who still believe in our Constitution..still believe in our government..and our Country..to take a stand.

If you do not like the law..there are LEGAL ways...to change it or repeal it.

They do NOT include shutting down our government or using the debt ceiling as a bargaining chip.

I think back to the ERA. Now I really wanted that to pass. But when it did not..I never thought of advocating that our entire Country shut down until I got my way.

What has changed. Selfish self centered brats who think they have the right to bully the rest of us.

I sincerely hope that all of us..of all parties...stand up to the bullies and tell them clearly this is NOT the way we do it in the USA.

jaycee..I disagree totally.

We are being held hostage right now by a very small group of extremists. These people do NOT represent the majority of the GOP nor the values of the GOP. I know. This is a small group of extremists who have somehow gotten control of the party.

I would LOVE a third party. I loved our governor debate when we had all those voices to chose from. That is how democracy is supposed to work.

Our Congress voted and passed a bill. It became Law when the President signed it. Some challenged it, and our Supreme court ruled it was Constitutional. A presidential election was held, in which the person who supports the law...won.

Yet still a few..very few..just no longer believe in our system of government. They think because they do not agree with it, they have the right to shut down our entire government..and lord helps us...might destroy our entire fragile economy by refusing to pay bills already incurred.

Anyone ever see the seven days of M

joew...because they would not compromise on the provisions of a LAW?

The money in the budget...was agreed on. It is the defunding of Obamacare that is at issue.

Our entire system of making laws is at stake. Why is that difficult to understand. One part of our Congress cannot hold the rest of us hostage just because they do not like a LAW that was PASSED.

If the ACA is so "bad"...why not let the people see it for themselves. Or are they afraid we just might LIKE it?

Read history..same scare tactics when social security passed. Some people do not like change..especially when it moves us forward.

Once again..who are those who disagree when I post FACTS? I know you might not like to hear what has been closed due to the shut down..but you cannot disagree that it has happened.

There is a difference between OPINION and FACT.

Unbelievable that so many just do not get that....

This is not about left or right, Democrat or Republican, Independent or Libertarian. It is time to unite as AMERICANS and take back our country. A fool is one that sits idly by and does nothing yet joins in the debate based on the talking heads drivel and telling us what it is we should believe. Make a difference, let your lawmakers know that this is unacceptable. And when the time comes, make your voice heard and VOTE.

We are witnessing the downfall of our great nation. The Marathon bombing, Sandy Hook shooting, Navy Yard shooting, the incident today at the WH, the government shutdown, runaway debt, a government that can't do their job, spending $1Trillion per year, continuing to print more and more money to the peril of rendering our currency worthless, acting worse than children, arguing about whose fault it is, past and present instead of fixing it, locking our WWII veterans out of THEIR memorial, the very same brave soldiers who stormed Normandy to stop the Nazi's, and the list goes on and on. Until we vote out the incumbents on BOTH SIDES the destruction will continue. I shudder at what the world is thinking as our country and democracy collapses before our very eyes. Neither side is serving the people. Government has gotten too big, too intrusive in both our public lives as well as our commerce.

Closed/ceased Business Small Business Administration SBA approvals of applications for direct loans to small businesses will stop. (wow this one should really help our economy huh?)

Closed/ceased Executive White House The White House Visitor Center would close and the gift shop would close to the public.

Closed/ceased Homeland Security Visas Regular visas will not be processed, however emergency visas will be processed.

Unclear/mixed Defense Military Troops including those fighting in Afghanistan and Iraq will not be paid on time. Troops will continue to earn money but will receive no paychecks. (talk about slap in the face to those servicing in our military)

go to the article for more info. This does not include the 800,000+ federal employees who have been furloughed and the other few thousands whose work depended on the federal workers (like vendors, etc)

It is DEVASTATING and appalling. Our government shut down due to some spoiled brats in Congress

Yeah, Dc will use the race card at any and every opportunity possible. Especially when the shutdown is the fault of ALL parties in Congress. One side refuses to allow unabated spending into the stratosphere and the other refuses to allow targeted spending on certain items. There is uniform blame to go around.

Is Dcron black? Just wondering b/c her responses often cite Obama's ethnicity for no apparent reason. She also accuses Obama's critics of being racist simply b/c he's black and (assuming) his critics are not, again, for no apparent reason.

Oh please Dcronig give me a break. Have you watched the news lately. It's all about closing the National Parks. No mention of NSA, IRS, EPA. Only the National parks. And why do you think that is? Could it be that the National parks directly affect the people? Could that be it? Why no mention of NSA? Which BTW has furloughed 70% of the work force. By directly impacting the people he getting the attention of those who directly have an impact on the country. There are more guards at the WW11 memorial site than there were guards at the Benghazi consulate. So if you want to get something done you go after the things that people want. Fact is it costs next to nothing to keep the WW11 memorial grounds open. It's not a question of color my friend the problem is with the man. Oh and who brokered the Syrian deal?

Captain..it is the budget they asked for. Senate has approved it!

Of course we have to raise the debt ceiling..and then work on getting our citizens back to work. that will bring in more revenues. Have you seen lately the wealth distribution in our Country? Try to google it.

Oh I agree we need to make cuts...and increase revenues. we need to do BOTH. That is the problem. Some want it only to be cuts...cutting essential services for low income, seniors, vets, children, etc. Why? Should we not do BOTH..through..****PROMISES..which some (extremists) think is a bad word. I compromise all the time. Both at work and in my personal life. It is what we do when we have the same goal. Anyone who thinks they do not have to compromise will not last long in a work environment..or any relationship. have any of you tried not to compromise with your partner? LOL it is a GOOD THING. Just wished we could convince the extremists. Meanwhile, they hold us all hostage

Both sides have gerrymandered districts to make incumbents safe. That’s one reason why ideology and extremism – again, on both sides – trump reasonableness, compromise and doing what’s best for ALL Americans, not just the special interest groups to which they’re beholden.

Example: The talk about the medical device tax funding part of Obambacare. Two Dem Senators that support Obamacare but have spoken against the tax – Franklin (MN) and Warner (MA) – just happen to have big device manufacturers in their states.

So it doesn’t matter which side you sit on – someone, somewhere “owns” you.

I’m sick and tired of all of them...we need term limits instead of “elected-for-life professional politicians.”
