You are all right. Those freeloading veterans and senior citizens need to get off their butts and get a job. They need to quit trying to live off of us hard working citizens of America. I'm so glad all of you support our veterans. You should be ashamedof the way you are talking about senior citizens and that veterans.

Judeye you really need to get off the fear mongering highway you are stuck on. The malarkey that babies are going to starve is baloney and you know it. That is a typical looney left tactic.

Phil...I believe in Democratic Socialism..ever hear of it?

Socialism surrounds us and most of us like it. Look at our police and fire departments. Anyone pay for their own? What about our schools? We all pay, even those of us without children enrolled. Our roads and airports..socialism. Disease control and FEMA. Good grief I could go on and on. We LOVE Socialism in our Country...we just do not like the word, which has too many bad connotations that have nothing to do with its implementation at all.

rosebud...wow you must be thrilled then with the ACA that by law...forces the insurance companies to use 80% of the premiums paid on actual PATIENT CARE. No more high increases for profit sake.

As for all those babies....You never knew anyone who received WIC? It is one of the most restrictive programs around. It is very selective on what kinds of food they can buy..limited to such items as milk, and FORMULA.

Good grief..have we become so harden in our Country that we no longer care if a baby has formula?

hadenough...what changes? Were they implementation changes, such as when and where and how it would be implemented? Or were those substance of the law changes. HUGE difference. I was very involved in the implementation of a federal law in our area. The law did give us the freedom to implement it in a way that best met the needs of our local community. Something that many of us thought was a good thing.

For me I look forward to enrolling in a health insurance program through the ACA. I care that thousands and thousands of my fellow citizens who up to this point have had to go without any health insurance, now will be covered. I think it is a good bill. For me it did not go far enough though. I still want and will work towards single payer...similar to Medicare for all. Not only do I think it is the Moral thing to do, but it would contribute greatly to our overall economy.

"...obviously something has gone wrong." Ya think?

The whole GD system is saturated with selfish, phony & corrupt pols who are only interested in one thing, getting re-elected. The freeloaders have produced generations of slugs, and have gotten smart by electing pols who promise to fight to protect their interests (entitlement programs) and/or significantly expand upon affirmative action hiring practices.

There IS strength in numbers, but we won't like the results, nor should anyone be surprised.

The content of this article simply confirms the dependence we have on government. What ever happened to self-reliance? What ever happened to individual pride? Have we chosen socialism over democracy? Government should be the employer of last resort but obviously something has gone wrong.

Yup the long term shut down will have the free loader programs hurting. Too bad. Get a job. Has anyone noticed the shortage of cashiers in stores lately. Everyone is saying they have to be under 30 hrs because of Obama care(ACA). Also many of these people are saying they had to get a second job NOT go on public assistance.

some will suffer for the long term good for all, we remember what it was like when people didn't rely on hand outs, maybe this the wake up call to limit benefits to those who have earned them(vets & seniors) for example and cut the fat on the gold brickers

Judeye, If the Government did not GIVE all those Babies FREE food,(That we pay for) the price would not be so high in the first place, Like "Forced" insurance, the more you are required to buy, the higher the Insurance Company's will charge. The government takes from my pocket and gives to those that are to lazy to work or to stupid to stop having kids that they can not afford. Why do you think they keep having all those babies??? Because they can sit at home while the rest of us support them...

Yes Judeye Obamacare is/was passed according to our laws. Then there have been 19 changes, and counless exemptions and waivers instituted without the consent of congress so we do not have the same law as was legally passed do we?

Too many costly entitlement programs by parasites who are able-bodied, yet weigh the pros & cons of working for a living and instead CHOOSE to live this way.

Ms Keller said: "People depend on these services to live."

This is the problem! Yes, many of these programs do good work for those in need, but w/o strict limitations, they simply encourage govt dependency, better known in politics as a way to get re-elected.

Who cares collect your unemployment of 405/week the maximum amount in NY like everyone else who lost their jobs. Plus you will get back pay once the government re-opens next week. So you will be double dipping and be rolling in the money. No different then all you thieves that work for the government now.

Excuse me judeye. Once again you don't get the facts. Listen to the news or read a paper. After the bill was passed Obama the supreme leader changed the law 19 yes 19 times before it went into effect. History lesson. You cannot pass a bill into law, then at your pleasure make changes to the law. That is illegal. Yet Obama did it. As a former attorney?? did he not learn anything in law school? Someone has to look after the interests of the American people and it looks like congress took the lead. When Obama starts acting like a president and talking with congress not at them perhaps then this country can move forward.

Taking formula from babies and food from our seniors. What can be more appalling?

All because a few radical right wing extremists cannot accept a law that was passed by BOTH Houses of Congress, signed into law by the President, ruled CONSTITUTIONAL by our Supreme Court, and became a central issue in a presidential campaign in which the person supporting the law WON.

They then tried to repeal it how many times? At least 42 ...maybe higher

When they lost on each of those fronts they decided to shut down our entire government...hold all of us hostage...to once again try to get their way.

They have turned their backs on our Constitution which clearly outlines how we make laws in this Country. I guess the vision our forefathers had is not good enough for them.

Now I anticipate a total destruction of our Country if they try this with the debt ceiling. Sad that so many in our Congress these days no longer believe in our Constitution or our Country.
