In a recent poll 60% of Americans believe that the entire membership of congress should be replaced. Do the politicians care? Nope! They know that with enough special interest money they will get re-elected. It is a sad commentary on democracy and reflects the need for comprehensive election reform.

Who exactly is the government? The president? Congress? Or both? Government is supposed to work in harmony for the good of the people. Right now it is Democrat against Republican. Congress wants to reduce spending the president wants to increase spending. Six times Obama has increased the debt limit six times with the consent of congress now congress is sasyin enough is enough. So don't blame congress for trying to reduce spending. Just look at the free stuff Obama has handed out. Who pays for out of wedlock babies? You do. Guess you like paying for other peoples kids. Shameful.

Judeye, wait a minute! You said Boehner proposed the CR? But yesterday, on your 12:24 comment you indicated Republicans weren't allowing the CR to be voted on. Which way is it?

Also, is Obamacare a law or tax? In order to circumvent the Constitution, SCOTUS said it was a tax. Since it's a tax which is designed to raise money for the government, why does it have to be funded? And, since it's a tax, why isn't it applied to everyone equally?

We haven't had a budget since Obama first took office. Even when his party controlled both houses of congress, there was no budget.

"The continuing resolution (CR) being debated was proposed by none other than Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) himself in July. Boehner’s proposed CR number was the compromise position. The Democrats agreed to a budget $220 billion below the president’s request and almost $100 billion below the previously Senate passed budget. Hell, the House GOP budget CR currently being referred to as the “clean” bill is more than $100 billion below the Paul Ryan budget proposal. It’s $2 billion below George W. Bush’s last budget proposal, meaning that if we pass it, we would be funding government at 2008 levels — that’s hardly a position Democrats are happy with." Mark Kogan

Did they approve a bill that is BELOW what the President requested and below even Paul Ryan budget?

What more can you ask for? Ignore our Constitution and hold out to change a law by refusing to fund our government rather than by legal means...is now acceptable?

Judeye, who's holding the vote back? Ma'am, it's not rocket science. The House submitts bills to the Senate which then votes on them and if passed, sends them on to the president. The House have been submitting budgets to the Senate since 2011 and none have been voted on as the Senate majority leader won't allow it. Your guilty party is Harry Reid. He won't allow any bills sent from the House to be voted on concerning the budget. Why do you want a CR when we should have a full blown budget? Quit kicking the can down the road and fix it right. The House has been trying since 2011 but when ONE man prevents the Senate from voting, that's your problem.

Under private ownership, competing insurance companies vie for your business. If one goes bankrupt, it is quickly replaced by another, and competition is maintained. With ACA, a few trans-national corporations will be the only insurers, as smaller ones are driven out of business, when they cannot comply with all the extra red tape involved in a huge, complex government plan. This is why the cost of healthcare goes up in direct proportion to government involvement.

Stangv8... "How are they causing this since they're only a very small minority? "

We are ALL wondering that. Now let a vote be taken on a clean CR. Who is holding that vote back? Who is not permitting the people the right to vote? and why?

Answer that and we might find common ground...

OMG joew. Can you please, please, please explain why it's the republicans who are applauding the shutdown, and yet Obama cause it. When it's Congress that must pass laws. Boehner needs to bring the clean CR to a vote. I for one do not want to see the total destruction of the republican party (really) which is where they are headed. By the way, your savior Reagan would be way too liberal for the tea's today. They would be challenging him in a primary.

Judeye, Cruz in one man...just one man! Harry Reid hasn't allowed one bill sent by the House to come up for a vote in the Senate...not one bill. How can Cruz be stopping anything? Please, explain how one man along with, maybe, Mike Lee, could be stopping everything in the Senate when they're only freshmen senators and Democrats control the Senate? Pleas explain how you believe them to be all powerful?

Also, that goes for a small handful of Tea Party Representatives in the House. How are they causing this since they're only a very small minority?

I believe Democrats are behind all of this to channel the blame onto Republicans so they can win back the House. When it comes to political power, they could care less how many are hurt. What matters is power to them.

judeye, it was the religionists that led the charge against slavery from your beloved party. it is the religionists who believe people have minds and build things. Your party says you did not build that and wants the govt to steal our money ! for this we are to remain silent judeye ? what books are you reading ? the lefts rewrite of history ? Tom J and friends revolted against such a system, you quote them and promptly forget that and say agree with the govt its legal.tell us more judeye nonsense gal.show the workd how ignorant liberals actually are ! And since you are a self proclaimed granny , why women just dont understand science or strategy ! the strategy part right from gals on PBS. Thats why you gals need govt force or help. hey judeye, we know the standing army quote is not valid today . See WW2. we had banks and no standing army. jefferson could not have imagined the science of today. he was a farmer.he was like you, ignorant of any science. or who did whatand when. Christians for fear and hate? . you got that backwards as usual. just look at the democratic leadership in schools or about guns.Look at the lib resoponse if you say you dont believe dumbwin or darwin. The right is labeled as nuts when it is the democrats doing the most crime. yet people like paul christopher say we should not judge those poor democratic city folk killing all those people , fellow democrats in the city ! judeye, you have a great ability to get everything backwards, In the face of facts and history ,judeye gets it backwards ! why is that judeye ?

judeye, you make the same mistake tom j did. he did not like banks. they are needed. Who can buy a home or car or start a business without one ? the govt is the biggest mandated bank and you support that monopoly. Back to Tom J's time. religion was paramount. One of the first buildings built in a community was a church. Many of the founders were christian. All denied by the libs now. There is a supreme court case about campaign financing pending. I hope the guy who launched it wins, get the BIG money in the campaigns ! Why we are not all stupid like liberals. special for judeye, steiner is not as ignorant of science, business, philosophy, history as you judeye ! Facts for judeye ! you buy my stuff in the store all the time ! long live petro chem , fracking. Ban the LWV! rid the world of stupidity !

stangv8...and if you had looked at those maps you would have seen something called gerrymandering.

Have you checked the polls lately?

Have you checked Cruz popularity lately?

Have you seen where even people running for office do not want to be seen with him?

Yet you think Cruz shows leadership?

What a joke. Did you happen to hear his latest speech at the Values Summit? I forgot when hate and fear became good values. Except in the good old "values" right wing so called "christians" group.

judeye, your jefferson quote is meaningless. the libs rewrote america with the income tax and the new deal. When Tom J said this, there was such little govt, people like you would have had conversion disorder. Much money could be made. Who was going to help the poor ? they either worked or they starved or maybe some church helped them. Judeye only quotes things when it suits her purpose. Tom had slaves. read his african comments. You would call him a racist judeye. he would be forced to apoligize over and over to please people like you .so judeye, try and realize, but you are unable that the ACA is a flop and a huge intrusion into our lives. thats what the big labor letter said .judeye, all your posts show a support for things that just dont work. Ignorance galore from judeye !

"I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies.

So are you demanding Congress to pass more laws to restrict their abuse? How many have been arrested for their crimes when they stole from all of us? Are you pushing our local rep to enforce laws against bank monopolies..so that no bank can ever be too big to fail again?

Or are we letting the flow of their money into our Congress direct the laws that so often favor the banks and not the people?

judeye, obama delayed the business mandate. Why not the personal mandate ? Answer, the ACA needs the money from uninsured individuals to work or it wil flop. fact for judeye! Why do you wish to control us so bad ? Judeye, your attitude is just what it was in the democratic party in the 1850s. it led to the civil war. then the klan and jim crow ! All by libs like you ! the repubs just had to agree with the democrats. Like now. the repubs were name called back then, just like now. How is it you libs dont learn anything from history ?
