How do they take away our freedom to choose "Iconoclast"? I have several subscriptions to different newspapers. There is a newfangled gadget out there called the internet!

Iconoclast. It does make editorial writing easier; most are flown in by carrier pigeon from Wheeling...

I see the race for county executive as a referendum on the future of the county home. Maybe that is how it should be. Let's let the voters decide.

Why does anyone care who they support? Do your own research and educate yourself so you vote for the right person for the right reason. Most don't vote for the person for the right reason. They listen to friends, neighbors, their cat or dog, they seem nice or I don't like one of his relatives there are a million reasons none of which involve intelligence.

We will be endorsing candidates in Chautauqua County races. The endorsements are based on the candidates' platform and their voting record or, for new candidates, their record of service in the past. No they won't! The Observer will support the conservative candidates as dictated by their out-of-state masters… Ogden Newspapers, Inc. Ogden is a massive media corporation that publishes 40 daily newspapers, from Florida to upstate New York. The Ogden Company, headquartered in Wheeling, WV, holds a monopoly in Chautauqua County, owning The Post-Journal, the Westfield Republican, The Sentinel-News along with The Dunkirk Observer.

There should definitely be concern regarding large media monopolies because they take away our freedom to choose from a variety of options. The gravest loss is in the self-serving censorship of political and social ideas with the ultimate result a distorted reality and impoverished ideas.

"Endorsements of a member of office who maintains the same political party are not used." I don't think I understand what this means. Somebody explain?
