Basic water rates going up again in city

City of Dunkirk water customers will see an increase in basic water rates come January and Treasurer Mark Woods provided an explanation on how it will work Monday to Common Council’s Finance......

Water rates need to be raised to cover the work that is being done to the water system that hasn't been done in DECADES!

My thoughts ...it's not the water rate increase that IS the problem as to me that is fairly reasonable it is the other crap combined to actually make your water bill "out of sight" ....Tipping fee & sewer fee. The three items make up your water bill. Take away the tipping and sewer fee and water bill not bad at all

"Since when does the streets administrater get paid overtime? Have you ever looked at some of the supervisers year end take?" That's nothing, the real issue is, take a look at the condition of the streets!

A basic rate increase of $11.25 for residential customers. What is the rate increase for Cott Industry? When a companies product is 99.9% water the raise is going to be huge. But you keep raising rate Dunkirk. Soon there will be no one to pay these rate increases.

Its amazing that the board says the streets department overtime is ridiculous but does nothing about it. These people mowing lawns shouldn't be making 70k a year. Talk about milking Dunkirk dry. Enough is enough.
