Killers, you have NO clue, the reason they pay higher premiums is because they are in an unprotected district, that has to do with FIRE HYDRANTS!!!!!!! NOT distance to a fire hall, besides Fredonia with paid firefighter/paramedics on duty 24/7 can usually get there quicker, many times Fredonia has beat Cassadaga to the Shur Fine and Grandmas kitchen! There are times during the day that Cassadaga does not have anybody to respond for an ems call, and then you are only getting basic ems, Fredonia provides advanced life support/paramedic service, something no other Fire Dept. does 24/7 Fire Depts like east town, west town and Sheridan don't even have ambulances, Fredonia has 2! You get what you pay for, plus you get the experience of a Dept that goes on 2,000 calls a year vs one that does 200, big difference in actual experience!

I wonder if the town board had any discussions with other fire departments for coverage to see if they could bring the cost down. I suspect that did not happen, which would have possibly save town resident on their taxes. I do know that because of the distance to the Fredonia Fire Hall many people in the outlying areas are paying higher insurance premiums as opposed to having service from closer fire departments. Kudos to the town council for a job well done.
