Obama campaign ad??? While I admit there's no misinterpreting what you just described, it sounds like a GOP-sponsored ad to discredit the ACA, not an Obama campaign ad.

There is only one way to interpret it Captain, the same as the Obama campaign ads shoving "Granny" off the cliff in a wheelchair!

joew: What I clearly said was: "If the CCLeg doesn't want to spend the money to take care of our elderly anymore, then say so and approve the sale."

You can interpret that any way you like, but don't quote me with words I never wrote!

Who's the one being disingenuous?

JoeW...have you read the CGR report on the CC?

Would you please cite for me where it states that the CC is losing money.

I could have sworn that I read, with the IGT funds, the CC actually operates on a SURPLUS. I am pretty sure I also read in the report that we were being misled as to the cost of the Home by the local media and politicians.

Please use this report to clarify for me how the CC is losing money. Please do not cite anything from our County that seem to have an agenda for trying to convince us that it is a huge drain on our resources.

Either you think of CC as an asset to our County and its people...or you think of it as a liability. Which is it?

joew..are you talking about every school district in our county? or the roads or the airport or sheriff's department.

Take away their federal and state funding (which when the CC receive it actually then operates with a surplus) and tell me what the funding looks like.

NY state only gets back less than a dollar for every dollar we send to DC. Now you want to make that even lower? States that get back MORE than what they send in are mainly GOP run states..look it up.

Just curious Observer who will you vote for, using that logic,in the CC race?

I'm never ready to commit to a candidate until I read the Observer's endorsement. My vote is for Johnson.

That was not a question Captain it was an attempt yet again for the umpteenth time to explain to someone(not you)that the CCH does not operate at a surplus. I was not responding to you unless you are also Judeye. I will say however that putting the "we don't care about seniors label" on the CCL or anyone in favor of selling the facility is rather disingenuous! That is not what the issue is about!

Et tu fish ;) That's NOT what I said.

joew posed a very "simple" question so us less-educated voters can easily understand. I merely took HIS reasoning of why HE believes the CCH should be sold and applied it to the CCSD.

If the CCLeg doesn't want to spend the money to take care of our elderly anymore, then say so and approve the sale. But don't hide behind the excuse that the CCH is losing money b/c public services cost money, and especially when many county services cost a helluva lot more.

I'm not in favor of eliminating any essential services, and I consider the CCH one. I do, however, support cost-saving measures and greater efficiencies for ALL county services, but then I don't have to weigh what's best for my political career, do I?

I certainly could have answered sooner but I was spellbound by the 60 minutes show this evening even to the point where I rewound it and watched a second time!

It is a silly argument to compare the County Home to other departments. Skilled care facilities are run very adequately in the County and State. If the State wanted the counties across the State- Gov. Cuomo and the State Legislature would create the conditions to compete with private care facilities. Why aren't the supporters of the County Home contacting Cuomo & Company?

The CCSD is mandated by both the State and by the County Charter and is a public safety and security issue, the CCH is not! The CCSD was never intended to be self supporting. The CCH should be a privately run facility. That is as simple as I can make it.

so using your reasoning Captain, we should disband the all the American armed forces, border patrols, state and local police departments etc., let us know how that going to work

I agree Acaptain. No county department is self supporting, and yet the CCH is the only losing money.

What's the matter, joe? You're the one who came up w/this "simple" question, I just applied to a different area of county services.

We patiently await your educated response.

Judeye lets try this one last time and I will try and really simplify this for you. Consider the CCH a stand alone entity with no external funding.(that is funding not associated with the services provided) Now suppose that the accounts receivable do not or can not provide capital adequate enough to fund operating costs such as wages, salaries, benefits, healthcare, and normal overhead costs. How long could such a enterprise last before creditors call in the accounts payable?

A GOP Newspaper endorsing the GOP candidate. The candidate has run a non-profit agency while the Democratic Candidate has actually run a business. Doesn't this appear to be the opposite o run a business you know how to run government. This is usually what we look for when GOP endorses a candidate. You all know, if you run a business you will be successful running government. now running a NGO is how you get the endorsement. Any other time the candidate has business experience and bemoans the other candidates lack of business acumen and experience to be capable of efficiently running government. Not now, not this election, just vote GOP 'cause they know what's best for our county. NOT NOT NOT! We need Ron Johnson rid of these do nothing Republican Status Quo friends and family planners.
