Candidate Barmore has backed tax hikes

October 30, 2013

Editor, OBSERVER: I have followed the county clerk’s race with interest and find it puzzling why Larry Barmore talks about saving taxpayers money, but then has a history in voting for tax increases......

Where is the logic here? Suppose the unproven accusation is true, it will not change the fact that saving money in the Clerk's office and voting to raise taxes are two different issues. The Clerk can and will offer a budget for the office but will then have no vote on it's funding.

DarkStar, writing a piece under the category of opinion does not excuse oneself from providing proof when presenting accusations as fact. By your own logic, a person could say the earth is square and be excused from being wrong just by claiming it as an opinion. Opinion piece or not, when providing information as fact, especially in an attempt to sway or persuade an audience to act in a certain manner, you should prepare your "facts" with evidence. As of this moment, until evidence is provided, Mr. Eldridge's "opinion" is unfounded at best, incorrect at worst.

The author stated his opinion, if the facts don't actually back him up you are free to prove him wrong, but whining because he didn't do your homework for you serves no purpose.

This may be an opinion page, but noone want an opinion of whether taxes were raised or not, we want facts. Without facts the authors statements are meritless.

Barmore is the lessor of two evils. Neither will come close to the job done by Sandra S. Cornell, however, is NOT the person for the job!!! She has no experience to remotely qualify her for the job!!!

Cornell voted to add $2.1M to this years budget to fund IGT that would have increased taxes to the average small business around $100. Barmore voted against this addition.

And Cornell's refusal to sell the county home is not a continuous burden on taxpayers? She is NOT a fiscal conservative. Will Cornell be present at the legislature meeting today in which a vote may be taken on whether or not to sell the county home? Cornell will do what SHE wants to do. She is NOT to be trusted with power. Vote against Cornell on 11/5/13!!!

"It amazes me how" Snotziman "can make these claims about" Zack Eldeidge "without any backup information to prove his claims."

Seriously though, I have no idea if what the author states is true or not, but if not it should be easy enough for you to provide proof that he is wrong.

Is it really that hard to understand that the letters posted on the Opinion Page are opinion pieces?

voting for Barmore would suggest one less vote to raise taxes every budget year

It amazes me how the author can make these claims about both candidates without any backup information to prove his claims. This is nothing more than an uninformed article from someone trying to sway an election.
