NRG begins new push

November 16, 2013

NRG Energy Inc. is touting an updated Web site as an attempt to add to the momentum for the Dunkirk repowering proposal. According to David Gaier, NRG director of communications, the updated www....

If the PSC allows this garbage to go through, then there will be twenty lawsuits filed the next day! NRG is using the City of Dunkirk as a pawn to try to manipulate government. It is pathetic how our government knee jerk reacts to a situation at the peril of all of the other cities that have power plants in them. Makes me sick how many politicians are dancing on the end of NRGs strings over TAX DOLLARS!!!

Why cant NRG build the plant on their own and not force National Grid into a contract? BECAUSE THE MARKET IS SCREWED UP!!! To many power producers getting paid outside of the market causes it to CRASH. NRG will make the situation MUCH MUCH WORSE if they pursue this!!! This cannot be allowed to happen! No forced contract!!!!

judeye,

What I find interesting about Earthjustice, the Sierra Club and other tree hugging wacko groups is that they have all sorts of plans, but of course none of their plans involve them going any more then complaining.

Is Earthjustice ready to pony up 100's of millions to generate energy in our area using "green" sources?

Also I've yet to see you address why anyone should listen to the Sierra Club when they talk about replacing these plants with wind power considering they have repeatedly opposed the actual construction of windmill for power generation.

Finally, you have stated here again and again that we need to eliminate special interest groups from politics, does that include the Sierra Club, Earthjustice and other left wing lobbyists?

hey rumblefish, you are wrong. the corporations did not buy the public to sell electricity. It sold itself bcause it is so useful. gas is 5 times cheaper than coal. All you posters have been sold the bill of goods by the libs that everything is for sale. The earthjustice people have no clue as does judeye, the immense energy we use, mostly all heat. I could not live and neither could you without electicity. hey judeye, the science method i listed yielded up scores of millions in sales in chemicals etc. thats real science, something you always asked for. thats how the big boys do science. i have done it for over 35 years. You on the other hand have done little as you dont recognize the scientific method.

this debate about energy is always going to be on going, but the fact is in this country "Money Talks", so in the final outcome of NRG or National Grid, it's going to be who spends the most to buy who, agendas are now and always will be decided by who has bought and paid for who the consumer or community are of no concern to the ones who run things in this world

Hey judeye, AFTER i posted all my posts, i went to the earthjustice web site. Sure enough, it is run by lawyers. Lawyers and later accountants have been running the show for hundreds of years. the accountants were an added feature thanks to your woodrow wilson. Now lawyers are cunning but not science smart. their belief in climate change is wrong. Simple observation will prove that, besides quantum physics and analytical chemistry. They ignore PBS specials on green energy too. You show you are just a parrot, knowing nothing of industry, life or energy. So the science types, like steiner have been left out of the mix for a long time. The lawyers overwhelmed them via antitrust and your beloved income tax. We know for sure that the greenheads want only to bring starvation and cold to america, under the guise of saving the planet. It is a lie like Obamas promise you can keep your insurance.thanks for confirming how clueless you are on science. Got anything more judeye ?

hey judeye, from PBS,a special about slavery and means used to enforce it. they showed branks used on the recalcitrant slaves and women of the day.to stop nonsense talk. The activist gals at the EPA are gonna need branks put on them before they sink the US economy with their war on carbon. the LWV has shown they need branks. they know nothing . Gals, read some science, observe the world of nature before you write anything. You will make less of a fool out of yourselves. a hint from the bible, as Maggie valone wrote about the lords prayer. the cain vs abel story. What does it mean ? Michael moore goofed it up.Cain are the science people. Abel is the nature as it is folks, judeye and the gals at the EPA and LWV .The gods expect and will further the Cain types.I am Cain with my strong force proving and by analogy god being proving steinertron machines. judeye, you are obsolete, destined to the junk pile.

hey judeye, the world uses 90 million barrels of oil a DAY. trillions of cubic feet of natural gas. You think renewables and conservation will offset this ? We were wood based in US till civil war. these are quadrillion btus. The forests would be gone like north korea. This does not even include nuclear power. From the old prometheus myth, mankind stole fire from the gods. You want to get rid of fire ? Does history mean anything to you ? Does life mean anything to yu. We will starve and grow cold listening to the lunatics like you.we would have to go back to pre medieval times to live like you suggest. how in logics name, ooops, there are no gal ohilosphers of note do you expoect to replace all this via conservation and green ebergy ? You CANT, judye, you CANT.whats wrong with your mental powers ? they are gone with the wind judeye.

hey phil, dont talk sense to judeye, she and the gals at the LWV wont understand it. Hey judeye, you miss again and again the revolution that quantum physics has in store for us. On drudgereport, another physicist was saying that 2 slit experiment showed life after death was possible. It for sure shows weather is not using just the suns heat, but other forces. i have said over and over any good explosive chemist can tell you it is nitrates that make thngs go boom. Nitrogen oxygen make up nearly all the air vs the tiny 350 ppm of co2. Water traps heat and account s for 18% of energy use in a home. Dont ya have a hot water tank ? Never boiled water ? never noticed what clouds do vs dry air in the weather. how can you be so ignorant ? If i was like you i would have blown myself up in the chemical plants. Thats why i say over and over women and scince dont mix . You and the LWV prove it each posting.

judeye, you are against fracking and GM food. all possible by the chemists. All possible by hydrocarbons from the earth. If we converted the entire corn crop to fuel it would not be enough. You bought my stuff in the store. natural gas is a feedstock. Running chemical plants require constant power, no interruptions if the wind stops or some other goofy nonsense from the green heads. the plants can explode. What do you offer in place of petrochem ? answer, it cant be done, there are too many of us. I cant believe you are so ignorant and naive about life.you live in blessed ignorance. i have seen the petrochem plants , seen the motors, up to 1500 horse or roughly one million watts. all of this makes life possible judye. The electric furnaces at niagara falls take 14 million watts. they have to call the power company before they turn them on. judye, you will force starvation and cold upon us. why do you want to do this ?

judeye, you just have never turned a crank to do work. As a tinkerer, I have over 12 deep cyclce marine batteries at home, plus an inverter. If i run my 1/2 horse well pump, i cant run anything else as, the battery voltage will dip and the inverter will cut out. The surge to start is 80 amps for a few tenths of a second. I can pull in 20 KW to my house off the line. No solar array is going to allow me to do that even in day light. the battery bank would fill my basement and weigh tons.I have said co2 does not trap heat. this from the analytical chemists . the guys that make the stuff or check it before you buy it in the store. you are asking earth justice stooges ? judeye, face it , you know NOTHING gal, nothing at all about life or energy.

Well let's see, we are talking about a 1/2 billion private sector in an area that is surely dying, starving for jobs and desperate for tax base expansion. The NRG proposal will provide 300 jobs and reduce the cost of electricity. Would you rather produce that electricity at a coal fired plant in Pennsylvania? Governor Cuomo, what are you thinking? Maybe I should ask "are you thinking?" Earthjustice is an environmental law firm focused on a single issue. Do you think they care about the economic future of Chautauqua County?

judeye, you have said nothing. Asking earth justice or any liberal about life is asking an insane person to operate a nuclear reactor. You really are ignorant judeye. You missed the bungled roll out of ACA and now you want to extend it to energy. You gotta be nuts. there is no justification for not supporting the conversion.judeye, what part of the numerous facts i have mentioned about energy dont ya understand ? ALl of it. Windmills work on average 30% of the time.each windmill is 3 megawatts. So it would take 25 of them, if the wind blew all the time to = the one turbine running at the plant. Solar is 5-10 acres of panels for one megawatt. so it would take over 300 acres to equal the 75 megawatts running.we can get wind records from the wweather people. The sun dont shine at night. we can make a prediction as to what we will obtain energy wise without even building it. this has been on PBS,do you think PBS is fox news.?

No Judeye, sorry, that organizations "plans" are more like pipe dreams at this point in time, and will do nothing to improve anything. Windmills and such at this point in time are huge jokes, and if you're worried about your bills, I must point out that National Grid and NRG were forced to buy power from these sources at higher rates than they could produce it themselves. Those are FACTS, not idealistic musings from around the campfire.

Here ya go Steiner...

I would like to hear more options before just jumping in on what NRG wants to do, which we will end up paying for with increases in our bills.

After the article in the paper a few days ago regarding Earthjustice opposing the conversion, I went to their site. I read their ideas and why they oppose this conversion.

I think that too many of us have refused to even consider any other option. I am not weighing in one way or the other..except to say that all options should be considered, looked at, reviewed, discussed and debated before we come to a decision. I have not see or heard much about the other options.

Now all of you who surely will jump to click on disagree...tell me how you have reviewed and got all the information on other options so that you are making an informed decision. Tell us all so we all can have the same information so we all can make our own..INFORMED...decisions on this most important issue.
