With all due respect, Dr H misses the point. Small community needs are seldom considered when decisions like these are made. Profits rule, and health care has become a very profitable business. This issue is about powerful medical groups that have vested interests in other medical facilities. They want LSH closed so "business" can be steered to these facilities in order to maximize profits. Moral imperatives, beautiful scenery, and good character of the people in this area is of no concern to those deciding the future of LSH. It's all about money!

A glimmer of hope??? Why, b/c John Galati, who was chosen by the same board that want LSH closed, said: "there MAY still be opportunities to provide quality health care services in this area”???

The word may is intentionally vague, and "may not" always accompanies it.

Remember that a cup 1/4 filled with water is also 3/4 filled with air, so technically it IS a full cup!

gracious the libs are smart. Paul says a cup is 3/4 full of air ! wow. captain says profits rule. Thats the extent of liberal minds. hey captain, in govt taxes rule, but the libs dont ever mention that. the area is declining, like detroit and people blame profits. blame the govt and the likes of christopher, cronig and judeye, the lapo dogs of big govt for our decline.

Steinerdzzz...you are as egregious a liberal lap dog, suckling from the liberal govt spending teat, as any single liberal democrat you mock -- as is virtually any one who lives in this county.

Dr H: Captain is one target. When the LSH Bd of Directors -- all supposedly knowledgeable and experienced in running large, profitable operations not to mention their "community leadership" experience -- take a hospital whose prices are in the mid-triple digit markup range over costs, and somehow manage to drive it into the ground..."hope" isn't the 4 letter word I would use.

add maybe, could be, might, possible ,to the word list, final word in business is always money , like or not that's what this is all about. yes some will take this as a glimmer of hope, some will see this as a stall, what the majority want we think is to have this issue resolved, either for the good or the bad, but to have it "soon"

This goes back to a primary issue in America today. In matters of health, profits should not come first. We need universal care to end thises problems.

No, they’re not blaming profits. And incompetence crosses political lines. Most attribute the lack of growth to the tax burden – business, personal, property – placed on anyone who lives or works in WNY.

Say you’re the decision maker for a company looking at WNY and other locales, and you’re also moving to that new location to run the new operation. But wait – you crunched the numbers and learned your personal tax burden will go thousands and thousands of dollars but your new pay won’t cover that. So maybe, just maybe, you pick KY, TN, TX, NC, AL, etc. instead.

Here’s an idea – let’s open a steinmirage factory in Chau Cty! A gas-saving, cancer-curing machine like that would surely have two or three lines running 24/7 to fill the demand, right?

opening a "steinmirage factory would be catastrophic for(2) major reasons: first:the dangerous increase of "hot house gasses" would drastically increase "life threating""global warming", and secondly the ASPCA would be livid and outraged because it would be like introducing the "cat to the canary"

Here we go again with Detroit. Do not believe it. There is something sneaky going on. When you have a buyer and you jerk him around there is something rotten in Denmark.
