Steiner thinks he had such a great impact. LOL. What is this wonderful chemical invention that you created? Are you afraid to tell us, in fear that we would laugh at you even further? I don't think that you understand the economic impact of 10,000 lives. It's not going to be "billions" as you claim. If that were so, I'm sure you'd be alright opening up immigration so that we can improve our economy by billions every day, just by letting more people into our country. What a laugh. I don't really think that you have the wherewithal to come up with an important chemical innovation…was it…water? And Detroit was pretty awesome through those decades, not in decline…as you claim. It wasn't labor unions, it wasn't liberals. Riots happened in many places, yes, many in "conservative" areas. That didn't lead to the decline. You really should research before you make such stupendously retarded statements.

Comparing this train service idea with ferry service to Canada is just too funny, but only b/c both are equally ridiculous. Your joke may have ruined next month's surprise announcement involving the next newest development ideas.

Brudder; “IT CAN BE MADE TO HAPPEN”. That’s the kind of thinking that got us the commercial business on the city dock that drives real private business out of business, and requires taxpayer subsidizing to keep the doors open. Let’s say the train station falls out of the sky free of charge. How much traffic do you really expect a train station in Dunkirk would draw? 10 people per day for 1 trip to Buffalo leaving at 6am in the morning and returning at 6pm in the evening at $50/round trip? Do you think it’s feasible to operate trains round trip once per day and station for $500/day minus taxes? What do the people do in downtown Buffalo when they get off the train? If there is so much demand, why isn’t there already a dedicated non-stop bus service doing it? If it is such a good idea, I think you should invest your own money to start the company that does it. Please don’t invest my money and children’s money doing it.

Jude eye is a frequent train rider where does she catch the train and where does she go? Drives to Buffalo nice try judeye but it would be unrealistic to do that. Hey why don't we have a ferry service from Dunkirk to Canada? Dunkirk days are gone, finished and will never return. Western New York is a very low priority with NYS leaders. So dream on.

Brudder. The proper term is Geological Scientist and what does that have to do with a train station in Dunkirk?

Hey Steiner. My daughter is a Geologist Scientist with HER office in MD. She studied very hard and for many years to get where she is and for what she continues to research. Phil. Private sector got a very big crush with the so called "Urban Renewal" Look what happened. What about all the workers from Dunkirk, Silver Creek, Fredonia and surrounding areas that go to Erie, Buffalo and elsewhere. Buses are slower, weather hampered and occasionaly have breakdowns. Escapee. Multi million dollars? come on, with the TAX FREE zones for start-up companysn the station is within a mile of the Incubator! IT CAN BE MADE TO HAPPEN. Hadenough. If staion is so bad and really needs an elevatopr why not use the millions that Escapee said and build a truely classy station that brings Our Waterfront into it at the other end of Third St. ? Low enough for ya?

hey psycho, i know from these posts that before i posted what the chemical industry is and does and my contributions in it, you libs thought it was the govt that did everything. I know christopher and cronig love this myth. It was not even union labor that did it. Why ? becuz a salaried chemist like myself had to train the workers in what to do. they were too busy reading leftist literature like oswald was.lets hear more nonsense psycho, like judeyes, marcias ,christopher and cronig posts. pure drivel .

psycho is wrong on all counts. detroits decline started in the 50s.All ya gotta do is look it up. or read newspapers or watch TV news. the 60's were noted for their riots. minority leadership too played a hand. So it was not the repubs, but the democrats and their unions that sunk detroit. Psycho, my chemical inventions saved 10, 000 lives. You libs keep mocking what i do. all you libs know is mocking. So figure it psycho, 10,000 lives times 40,000 bucks times 30 years is 12 billion dollars . I helped the economy more than most govt workers. Their greed sank detroit. thats why their pensions can be cut, psycho.whattsa matter psycho, work for the govt ? a liberal ?

Has anyone really looked at the state of the current train station. It is located on the ground while the train tracks are of course elevated. Meaning the train station would in its current state be disability compliant. So now we need an elevator. Then one would need special cars fitted with ramps to allow a person in a wheel chair to access the train itself. Amtrack is not going to pay for this and even if the disability service was never used it must be in place. Perhaps Nataro should do his homework before spouting off about rebuilding the station and as a side bar start collecting money for the project. This people is what is wrong in the city people open mouth without engaging brain

If Amtrak thought it would be profitable, they'd build it themselves…wait, it's already built, and all they have to do is open up a window and sell tickets. Don't tell steiner that the population started dwindling in the '50s. He thinks that Obama cause it. Don't tell him that Detroit started its decline in the '80s during Reagan, he thinks Obama and the "Dumbocrats" did that too! As wrong as he is, I'm impressed with his chemical industry coworkers that corrected his work and stopped him from killing 10000 people.

There isn’t even enough demand to warrant a major bus stop in Dunkirk/Fredonia. You can get local service to transport you to Buffalo or Erie, but no mainline bus stops in Dunkirk. There isn’t enough demand for the major bus lines to pull off the thruway to stop in Dunkirk yet they travel right through it. I don’t think we should use tax money to build a multi-million dollar bus stop in Dunkirk, and pay for staffing and maintenance, just to have another hole to pour money down. If we can’t support a bus stop, we sure as heck won’t be able to support a train station.

I know Valerie has good intentions but there is a feasibility issue here. The city has lost one-third of it's population in just my lifetime. The issue is private sector investment in job producing businesses. Until we learn how to be business friendly all other investments will be on the back burner. Passengert train service would be great but let's learn how to grow first.

So the closed train station is contributing to the demise of Dunkirk? Who are these individuals who think a train station will save Dunkirk? We know Nataro thinks so but those of us who live in the city know better. Trains are for cargo not people. So wake up people. Nothing but jobs will save the city and that ain't in the cards.

more for cronig and judeye and the LWV. All my chemical work arises from oil and gas wells. there is even some pine tree chemistry in it. Pine trees are wonderful chemical factories.guess what, you ate some of the chemcals that arose from pine trees oh unlearned liberals ! So, judeye , cronig and the LWV exactly how would i be able to do my work without the fabulous organic chemists in CORPORATIONS ,nearly all guys again nurturing gals, that made it possible. Green energy makes not one whit of chemicals. You dont seem to know that. Gals, will it be nurture ? your bosom ? lets hear it liberals . cronig , say steinerdzzzzzz. say something stupid. christopher, say idiot.marcia, where you ? unlearned libs, lets hear from you !

especially for stupid cronig, the system lost bg time on me ? Hardly and here is why. My lifesaving work in chemicals , where i can say truthfully, you shall not persih has saved 10,000 lives around the world ! Yes , its true. So take 10,000 lives, multiply by 30 years or so of work at 40000 bucks a year and we get 12 BILLION dollar return on steiners work. Of course the libs contributed even more , as a loss when the dumbacratic public employee unions sunk detroit. Its that liberal largesse working again cronig , right ? Oh cronig, the science i used was all white male derived and private enterporise in origin. cronig, about that list of govt science projects. Oh cronig, my steinertron work financed by myself , no public money. Unlike valeries or judeye train idea. golly you libs are stupid.

hey commentor , you are right. The women today follow the same script of yesteryear, complaining of this or that and inventing nothing ! This idea grips them so strong they lag in business and science. just look at feminists today ! Now they want guys to stop ogling gals ! the one thig they have that is to their advantage , curves, and they want to deny it ! they want to be like guys ! Did ya ever see some of the frminists ? they look like guys !

I dunno much. However I am sure that a train station in Dunkirk would not help the economic situation. There are many ideas ie. paint murals, build a skyscraper. The only salvation is JOBS. Anyone or any agency that could bring a company with 2 or 3 hundred jobs would rate a statue in Washington Park next the soldier. Otherwise prepare for more of the same. late 1950' population 25,000 give or take. Today's population 11,000 give or take. And mostly older residents.

I am quite sure a study has been done by Amtrak if there was enough rider potential midway between Erie and Buffalo you can bet the railroad would have already opened the station long ago seeing they have the most to gain.

Valerie "the whiner" Pawlak strkes again. The woman is always crying about something...and that something always has the burning question of WHERE'S THE MONEY GONNA COME FROM!Many times I have read that there will be NO plans for train service this way until the main line service from Buffalo to NYC is completed (if it ever will)and then an offshoot from Buffalo to Erie would possibly be added. Wake up woman!!! sheeze
