Call it a little quirk if you will – even an idiosyncrasy if I can remember how to spell it – but I rather like the feeling that I have some say over the running of my home....

MS Word usually comes preset with a bunch of stuff. I always have to dig and turn them off. Most can be found under Tools - auto correct options, customize, and option features.....Can't help you with Apple or Mac though.

Page numbers?

Apple iWorks - - Apple screwed this up in its Pages update from v4.3 to v5.0, and is working to fix this. Best thing to do is check an Apple user forum for one of a couple workarounds.

Spelling of non-common words? Just add them to your spellchecker.
