It's mind boggling how little a majority of the commentators in this thread actually understand about the justice system in New York State. One thing I will correct is that EVERY single Court in NYS is recording EVERY proceeding. The recorders were sent to each Court by the State of New York to protect each defendant as well as Court staff. How do you think the office of ethics was able to get a transcription of the proceeding in question?

The fact of the matter is the criminal justice system in America...in general and NYS specifically is a scam...a scam that ruins lives and destroys families all to appease the egos of judges, police officers and prosecutors. If you doubt that...consider this America has more people in jail, prisons on probation and on parole than Russia, China, India, France and Germany...****BINED...when it comes to "justice" in America...we are either doing something incredibly wrong...or we are just an evil society.

and while we are on the subject of "justice" town of Charlotte has an interesting format from what we here the whole court room is wired and all conversations are recorded, but they do have signs posted stating that they do it

now it's "intent" we wonder does Joe do mind reading too, CPV, if you expect to get Joe to admit that he does not have the right or correct answer on any thing, quit while your ahead, Joe is right all the time, don't believe it just ask him. JOE W the alpha and Omega of all commenters, his truth is marching on, it's "blind loyalty" to Prince and to Joe that's all that matters, never mind the facts..

When our founding fathers established this country it was stated that it is better to let a thousand guilty men go free than allow one innocent man go to jail. Its disgusting that our society no longer has safeguards to protect the innocent and Dave Prince would over step his boundaries to try and force guilt onto someone. Again probably not the first time he tried to force guilt on an innocent person just the first time he got caught. He should be removed in disgrace.

If you call a good man a fool for trying to protect a woman and her children from something less than a man that to is your right as well but if you can't see that as his intent you don't know the Dave Prince I do!

Rumblefish asked about experiences in Judge Augie's court.

My experience was that I did not get the result I wanted or hoped for. But, I did not get the impression that Augie enjoyed making me suffer or artificially distorted the facts in order to increase the suffering.

Like I said earlier, I’ve seen justice Prince in action. I would suggest that anyone who does anything but praise the justice and all his actions, NOT use their real name here. I would not expect to be treated equitably by Mr. Prince if he knew that I had criticized him publically.

@Joew - Hey who cares how long you have known Mr. Prince, not me!!! To call me a coward makes you no different then the coward Mr. Prince is. You can defend him all you want. Thats your right. But reading your post it appears you are an "Elder" who has no intention to accept "CHANGE". What i mean by that sir is Fredonia/Pomfrets court system is subject to change sooner then later. We cannot have town justices' acting like fools. I know you don't agree with me and i'm not here to persuade you to agree with me. However, NYS COJC cleary agreed with the complainant of which i know very well. So if you were in an public office and stepped out of line you would see a complaint against you to.At least someone here has the balls to stand up for whats right.

For people who say "he made a mistake..so what" How many people have made a mistake and had to stand in front of him? Do they get admonished for theri mistake and then go on their merry way? No they are punished and fine. People who are licensed by the state or are an agent of the state lose their jobs when they make mistakes and he should too. And do you really think that with all the years he's been on the bench this is his first mistake? No its the first time he got caught so how many innocent people did he railroad into accepting guilt for something they didn't do. All cases he presided over should be reviewed and he should be removed from. Office.

Dloniak, you're a government worker that can buy and sell me? What government is that? I guess that makes you part of the problem this county/state is in financially. Either that or you're a liar? I have an investment portfolio. It's really common. I bet 90% of the people posting comments have an investment portfolio. So......what else you got. A yacht, a ski chalet?

@ Judeye- Your stats are wrong and not representative of our area. Who cares what the DV rate is? I sure don't. It's not relevant to the original article. The POINT is, Judge Prince is nasty. He is a mouthy POS. Anyone who has been in front of that punk regardless of reason that claim he is acting as a fair judge is simply retarded.

ChautauquaPoliticalView...please cite where you got the info that many reports of domestic violence are false.

Statistics indicate that a person is assaulted 35 times before they call the police for the first time. Statistics indicate that the most dangerous time for a victim of domestic violence is when they attempt to leave. Statistics show that over 3 million children will witness domestic violence in their home. Statistics show that about 25% of homeless women, often with children, became homeless due to domestic violence.

I had to threaten one of my clients that I would report her to protective services if she did not get help for the domestic violence in her home. She would come in weekly with huge black eyes and bruises all over her face. Only when she realized the abuse was not only against her, but towards her children who witnessed these weekly assaults was she able to take action.

Domestic violence is very real. We all know it.

is that right Joe, fair, we know of more than one driver back in the 70's that officer Prince followed from one end of the town line to the other, every time they drove through Sheridan, some would call that harassment, Joe calls it fair, but Joe is the self appointed comment cop so what he comments makes perfect sense to us, not that we would agree

I knew Dave when he was the Sheridan Police Officer and I know Dave now, very fair person and while he did make a mistake(who hasn't)it was only because he has seen these domestic violence cases escalate to sometimes fatal conclusions. He was admonished for allowing his personal passion to protect that women and her children interfere with proper procedure. Wrong yes but "good on ya Dave"!
