February 16, 2014

I am not Joe Cerrie’s attorney but I have been his friend since grade school....

Friendships always cloud judgement. The issue is this person is still working for the village in a position of leadership. He has even replaced the mayor when was absent. In a position like that if he crosses the line with one of the village female employees the village has already been put on notice. They are leaving themselves open for a multi-million dollar law suit. As for the bar if he is still working there the NYS authority should lift their license. This type of behavior should not be tolerated.

Captain, it's apparent you'll rather have a person who has no professional courtesy and a questionable understanding of personal space working and also representing you for village matters. Your stance seems to be that having incredibly horrible judgment is essential to village governance. At his regular occupation, i hope this sort of activity is not even remotely close to possible.

"...maybe he's not fit to work in a bar, or for the village."

Thank you! Game, Set, Match!

Niebelj, maybe Joe should have thought about his children before he went about treating women like they were living stress balls. Not to mention thinking about his position as a person of authority in the bar, and as a village trustee. If none of that ran through his kind as he acted out, maybe he's not fit to work in a bar, or for,the village. He certainly isn't putting his family first, not to mention those who are paying his wages.

Judeye, you're harping about a gas well that was explained in the Home's report, but yet you refuse to believe it. Why? You believe every other piece of information in it unquestionably.

When the manager/owner of an establishment carries him or herself in such a way that patrons should have to worry about their safety and personal space, that's a massive problem. The owner should be the person a customer can look up to for help, not for outstretched hands. Everyone says the paper is "dragging things out". Maybe it would have one to light months ago had Cerrie gone to any of his first out dates. As you know, Public Relations Rule #1 in a crisis: drag it out, and peopes' short attention spans will shift elsewhere.....everyone except for Judeye, I guess. She's still looking for an explanation for the gas well that she can accept, no matter how many times it's been explained already.

This newspaper's deliberate actions are clearly motivated by its desire to continue smearing this man every chance it can, without regard for his family or children. To support this paper b/c Cerrie is a public figure and therefore deserves these malicious and endless attacks is just as telling.

This newspaper has really sunk to a new low this time (by ANY standard), it's very disturbing, and it once again proves just how worthless its own credibility is.

I agree with you John. Front page picture every article, and which, as you note, are just a rehash of old news seems way over the top. Murderers, drug dealers and other really bad characters don't get that coverage. It would probably be senseless to remind the Observer that there are others involved here like Joe's children and relatives who are impacted every time they do the reprint. Not condoning the act just would rather see it played out in court than in this fashion.

I agree with this letter 100%!!

Why this paper seems to want to keep this issue in the main is beyond me. A personal attack or for politics?

I am not condoning the incident and feel for the woman who was assaulted (yes it is an assault). However, I would want more facts before jumping to a conclusion. In any event, why is this once again on the front page as if this is new news?

Question: Why does this paper continue to bring this issue up....meanwhile REFUSE to do any kind of investigation on the gas well at the CC? Investigate who authorized it, why it was drilled, the total cost, what Empire Energy got in exchange for gas rights, etc. Many serious questions regarding the almost half a million of OUR MONEY spent on this well. Yet, the paper chooses NOT to investigate and find answers but rather put stuff like this on the front page.

Is it just easier to be a gossip paper rather than investigate and report on real news? Or is it an issue of politics as usual?
