DWI checkpoints are illegal. It's the same exact thing as stopping you for speeding even though you haven't.

Little known fact: search dogs are often trained to falsely ID contraband in cars so police can claim reason for a full search. Little known fact #2: cops will and do fake or ignore evidence against people in court just to get a conviction. It happens al whole lot more than you think.

check points nab more than DWI, such as driving with out license or suspension, no insurance, expired plates etc., all cash cows for the county/town/city courts and increased employment for the legal profession

if you got nothing to hide, than you got nothing to avoid, besides the more revenue they can raise "by all legal means at their disposal" the better the recent raise looks in the eyes of the taxpayer, it's called doing your job for pay and benefits, a foreign concept to most public unions

To all those opposed to the DWI checkpoints I bet if you lose a loved one to some drunk on the road you will be trying to crucify the cops for not doing their jobs!!!!!

@JoeW who want to voluntarily expose themselves to a checkpoint and a cop poking his head in ur window and looking around in your car and exposing yourself to third degree. Its too intrusive..warn your fellow drivers and flash your lights if they are coming upon a checkpoint. Did you know checkpoints originated in Nazi Germany? Just some food for thought about the type of country we've become.

I saw that ruling Cade and I agree with it. On the other hand the checkpoints are there because of the spike of drunk driving accidents on certain days that take lives and cause suffering of innocents. Flashing lights is a irresponsible act given the reason for the checkpoints.

And the probale cause would be trying to avoid a checkpoint...

Federal judge rules flashing headlights to warn of speed traps is legal [w/poll]

Joe, Entering a check point is voluntary. You can at any time make a safe legal turn around to avoid the check point. An officer would then need probable cause to initiate a stop if you choose to avoid the check point. Just saying.

Please people when you see one of these checkpoints don't warn oncoming drivers by flashing your lights.
