Hey! It’s only tax dollars

April 18, 2014

It used to be the representatives who were in the tax-and-spend crowd. Now they are the tax, borrow and spend group, as a federal budget proposal unveiled this month makes plain....

it's only "tax dollars" when it comes out of the others pockets, but if it came out of the elected or elected supporters, well now that a different matter

Forestinian, 2% of someone making 100K a year is only $2000 a year. What are they a bunch of cheapskates. Come on, this group can afford to pay more. Instead, the majority of the increases are passed on to the taxpayer.

Judeye, I was referring to the MTA contract in NYC where workers contribution to health care costs are based on a percentage of salary.

It crept into the last PEF contract as well. Lower grades pays less.

I find it extremely offensive that one pays more for "a loaf of gov't bread" based on what you make.

Adams Smith's "Invisible Hand" has been replaced by BHO's very visible hand.

The entrepreneurs I know work tirelessly on their life endeavor to grow the corporation and see it flourish. They are not going on exotic vacations and spending money foolishly. Contrarily, the profits are put back into the business as part of working capital. In the process, people are employed who support their families.

On the other hand, we see the government wasting billions on seminars that turn out to be vacations on the taxpayer dime. Who has not seen the federal employees mocking the taxpayer in Las Vegas, as the coordinator sips the champagne in a hot tub. Public employees eating prime rib at Christmas parties as the taxpayer drowns in debt trying to pay the bills. Gold plated pensions...

exxon pays a fortune in taxes.it is companies ike apple that use perfectly legal means to avoid taxes. All legal and irritating to judeye. taxes are important, else why would NY offer 10 year no taxes to companies that relocate here.judeye thinks we exist to pay taxes to the dumb govt employees. Another view that does not mesh with hisory. America is and was made great by low taxation. judeye is in love with the govt in the face of fcats that dont support her view. We need a limited govt, not what we have now.if this was and is not true, then why the govts wish to change it and why the rants against corporations and rich guys.income inequality is diversity and libs love diversity , but not judeye. another illogical position.

Tj i seem rough on people like judye because they are stupid.she says the govt funds health care , so what. she does not understand the importance of my steinertron invention, all private finance. hey judeye, look up tesla, father of the worlds electrical system. thousands of gigawatts installed. So critical to life that your beloved govt took notice when a large substation in california was shot out of service. The transformers so large, so unique with 55,000 gallons of coolant in them it would take YEARS to replace them, all hand wound. Teslas invention made the industrial revolution and our lifestyle possible. add this to std oil and the host of petro chem and life as we know it is KAPUT without them. that you cannot or wont realize these two private inventions is an indication of your vast and many delusions you harbor. all believed as truth. i still cant believe anyone can be so dumb as you in the face of huge govt failures, you love the govt. thats mental illness judeye.

Judeye, I tell you right now if BHO was a white man, he would have been impeached. The color of his skin is the only thing that has saved him from impeachment. He has broken law after law and has failed to protect and defend the Constitution of the US. BHO swore on a Bible to do this and he lied. I have several black friends and one was a chaperone at my wedding. However, the truth is the truth.

Poor Judeye is at it again with the "Corporations pay no taxes BS"! Judeye go to the IRS website and see who pays the majority of taxes. Of course those that invest in the stock market are getting richer when it is artificially propped up by ("printing money")quantitative easing brought to you by the Fed! The repressive policy's of this administration towards business is what is causing the jobless recovery. That Judeye is why the middle class is not gaining in the income arena! You need to read something like the WSJ,not that other liberal propaganda.

Judeye, you seem to think this wealth disparity is not linked to your Dear Leader, BHO? That is what puzzles me. Everyone's life except for BIG government and BIG business deteriorates, yet Obama is let off the hook. After 5 years, are not these his economic policies that have people finding jobs in the food and entertainment industry where they must work 2 jobs in order to survive. You know what, a person is better off not working because of all the handouts with a record number of people on food stamps. I suppose its all Bush's fault. How about those city pensioners in Detroit wanting to get bailed out with federal dollars. I am looking forward to your thoughts.

tjefson"A recent report by OXFAM found that since the recession of 2009 the gap between the rich and poor has grown faster in the U.S. than in any developed country of the world. The top one percent captured 95% of the post-recession growth in wealth, while 90 percent of Americans became poorer".

This does not bother you?

You do not think this is a direct attack on our form of democracy?

You really think Obama's policies made the super rich get even richer while if McCain had been elected more money would have gone to working folks?

Have you bothered to look up wealth inequality in our Country? Try watching inequality for all on you tube. It might help explain what is going on...

Now thanks to Supreme court rulings..the most wealthy will be able to buy our elections and put people in that will help them take more. Sounds like early 1900's doesn't it?

rich getting WAY richer..rest of us pushed further and further into poverty.

When will we say ENOUGH...

Steiner.."The science we take for granted is all private nature in origin. How can you miss that "

Maybe because it simply is NOT TRUE.

"Government funding for medical research amounts to approximately 36% in the U.S. The government funding proportion in certain industries is higher, and it dominates research in social science and humanities. Similarly, with some exceptions (e.g. biotechnology) government provides the bulk of the funds for basic scientific research"

Industry conducts scientific research in hopes of developing products they can market and make a profit from (good for them)

Government funds more projects that may not make a profit, but will benefit the people and our Country as a whole.

By the way, your name calling and insults only reflects your ignorance. I wonder why when discussing issues some feel the need to lower to insults rather than stay on just the topic? Hmmmm

JoeW..

"The top 5% of wage earners in this country pay the overwhelming majority of taxes"

First, you do understand that the top 5% do not make most of their money from wages dont you?

Secondly, those same top 5% have HALF of the entire wealth in our Country. Look it up. (Economic Policy Institute)

Many of the most wealthy pay much lower tax rates than working folks do..just ask Romney or Buffet.

Some corporations (who by the way are NOT people no matter what our supreme court may rule) pay NO taxes.

Can you name a Country where most of the wealth is concentrated with a few at the very top and still practices democracy?

Have you read anything on income inequality in the USA?

Just google it. I would highly suggest watching the video by Robert Reich Inequality for All as a start.

The wealthy just got richer...LOTS RICHER..while the rest of us continue to struggle.

We are way overtaxed period. There is no revenue shortfall, there are no money issues, only a spending problem. The recession will not end until someone who understands economics replaces a community organizer! The top 5% of wage earners in this country pay the overwhelming majority of taxes. That is a fact, you do believe the IRS right? Wait who did that Lois Lehner work for,Hmmmmmmm!

Here is another fact for you to chew on. You dems are the oppressive ones and you make out like it is the Republicans. I am neither. However, I find the dems to be repulsive.

"Take a look at take home pay: in 2002 under Republican President George W. Bush the lowest income tax rate was reduced one-third, from fifteen percent to ten percent. The second lowest rate was reduced from 27.5% to 15%. Democrats in Congress protested, and many voted against this income tax reduction. In other words, they wanted the lowest wage earners to take home less of their hard-earned money".

Frustration, you should try living in a world where people who think they know everything are the primary liabilities and are the main reason for the decline in our society. I think you are one of these members. You parasitic leaches have a week off and come back and tell the rest of us how wrong we are that pay you. You seem to be the epitome of arrogance.

Once again truthteller avoids the truth. I have given you facts and you give me opinions. You must be be one of these public schools teachers who belong to the teachers union who oppose a voucher system. Why are you so afraid of charter schools and competition. The NY state teachers union is the most vile organization I know of in this state. These low life greedy self absorbed incompetents use children to promote their own egotistical monopolistic agenda. The results speak for themselves. The US public education can't even break the top 10 world ranking. This is another fact that gets lost on your grandiose opinion of yourself.

Steiner, I use to think you were being crude with some of these people. Now I am beginning to understand why you are so straight forward with this group. They disagree, but don't tell you why and when they do it is never substantiated by any sources. It looks to me there is a core group of people who feel they are entitled to live off the hard work of others. It seems New York states entire philosophy is based on this notion. Some others are California, New Jersey and Illinois that have the same mind set. They all have one thing in common. They can't afford to the bills. Yet they blame it on everyone but themselves. What is wrong with these people?

Truthteller, can't you read. The BHO policies have made the wealthy even wealthier. You are pawn in their game and you don't even know it. You are part of the "herd" mentality. You keep trusting your Dear Leader as he flushes the entire country down the toilet. BHO hates America and everything we stand for, but you go right on supporting his cause.
