The welfare lines are just going to get longer. Families have lived on welfare for generations. They know how to work the system better than those who run the system. Look where they live. Subsidized housing. Look what they do, sit on the porch and drink and smoke. Look what they drive upscale luxury cars. With, of course, the handicap sticker hanging from the mirror. Cell phones paid by the taxpayer. Look at the number of kids. More money. Now why would a person give all this up to go to work? They won't and the government won't cut back on benefits for these unfortunates. The welfare system has exploded since the election of Obama. Only is America and especially in NYS.

Judeye, England and Germany for starters.

You said if wages had kept pace with the economy since the 70's, the average person would be making $92,000 per year. Tell me, do you think that 92,000 would buy what $92,000 does today? Do you realize that if the poorest person in American made $150,000 per year, he/she would still be the poorest person in America and living in poverty.

Privately owned medical-device manufacturer Cook Medical Inc. has opened a $19 million tubing plant. The plant may be the firm’s last new U.S. manufacturing facility — at least in the near term — since the Bloomington, Ind., company said it will focus on future growth overseas because of the pending 2.3 percent medical-device excise tax. However, the company said in late July that it will concentrate future manufacturing plant investments overseas. It already has scrapped plans to open five more medical manufacturing plants in the Midwest over the next five years — similar in size to the plants in Canton — because of the medical-device excise tax, which goes into effect in January. Cook Medical estimates that tax, part of the 2010 health-care reform plan known as Obamacare, will cost the company between $20 million and $30 million a year. Its late founder Bill Cook estimated the tax would cost the company 1,000 jobs. THIS is what happens when Companies are asked to pay higher taxes

joew, you got it correct. since the turn of the 1900s, we have had people like judey, progressives trying to make a utopian america. they turned it upside down. They destroyed opportunity, killed millions in their efforts.the fathers would be aghast at what progressives and women did to their country. they ruined it. they hate corporations. they hate everyting except the govt when it was in fact, NOT, NOT the govt that gave is the things the progressives rail against. judey gets everything backwards. even after repeated fact posting. i cant imagine how she thinks. she cannot grasp reality. delusion after delusion fill judeyes mind. thats mental illness.

Judeye I think you might be confused. First off we are not a democracy,we are a Representative Republic. Now how exactly would you propose that income equality,as you call it,be dealt with? Do we simply confiscate peoples homes, savings, valuables, investments, automobiles and pass them out to others? Surely you have a plan to address this correct?

more for judey, go back to the 70s, again the progressives are at work, saving america. The EPA was formed and a plethora of legislation enacted to save snail darters and the like. limiting economic opportunity yet again. by this time the corporations learned to practice crony capitalism . the libs had demonized them. even today judeye is against fracking. in the dakotas, millionaires have been made from hydrocarbons, judeye is fretting over the end of the world scenarios which exist only in her own mind.once again she posts that i do not know anything after 9 figures dollar sales in chemicals and not blowing myself up in petrochem after 40 years.i do not know the housing bubble crash cause.noone prosectuted and thats for agood reason. The truth that the govt itself, trying to help the poor again, crashed the system.

more for stupid judeye, income inequality fell during the liberals great depression.the libs declared war on wealthy. it was thought at that time that some evil rich business guy would assassinate FDR. But if we back up to the era of the robber barrons, their concentration of wealth frightened the dumb govt employee and the progressive, liberals of the day. so the passed laws to protect the average poor american.all of this was under the guise of safety legislation. what it did was restrict economic opportuinty even more. the mom and pop businesses were forced to sell out to the bigger businesses. FDR really went after those evil rich guys. the unions helped too, later bankrupting cities and businesses.the seed were sown for even more disparity. all done by judeye types just aching to help and goof it up !

Steiner...clearly you have read nothing on the crash of 2008 or if you have read anything..you did not understand it.

Do you need some links to articles that can explain it to you?

My only question..and this is against Pres Obama...why did not ONE of those CROOKS get prosecuted? Why are they not in jail? Why did we not look at how Iceland dealt with the crisis?

stangv8..you say you are a military person who has been stationed overseas.

Please tell me any country where most of the wealth is concentrated with a few at the very top and still is a democracy?

" There’s nothing wrong with wealth, but money that pools at one end of the population without benefiting anyone else is a sign of a suffering economy...If the average person’s wages had kept pace with the economy since the 70s, most people would be making $92,000 per year...It’s a common belief in America that all people have the same opportunity for success as the top 1 percent. Most people consider success to be a by-product of hard work, and hard work is something that Americans are extremely familiar with. In fact, Americans have increased productivity by 80 percent since 1979; unfortunately, their income hasn’t risen accordingly, if at all."

Have you looked it up? Really you think it would be good for more of the total wealth to be concentrated with a few at the very top?

judey, are you nuts ? obamas clear thinking prevented a depression. he has no business experience, no science knowledge, nothing. judey you are in love judeye, with your man ! obama was nothing more than an activist. someone just has to out such stupid liberals. the more the govt props up corporations, the longer we have economic downturns. obama never did anything worthwhile in in his life and he saved america ? are on pot or something ? the black race was and is not known for its science or business prowess and obama saved us ? did you catch all the changes to obama care ? did you see the condition of his own race ? on welfare , drugs or in jail. how do you miss all this over and over ?

judeye, how is it in your mind, everyone is ignorant but you ? Your conclusion about income inequality does not square with the facts.in the age of robber barrons, there was even more disparity. but costs lowered, yes lowered. there was economic opportunity for all. else how did we get all those barons in the first place. judey, you are hysterical in your posts. you should be concerned over socialism and its failures, not who makes what. in your mind then , the destruction of the black family with welfare is a success then. why not make everyone rich ? just pass a law ? we had more opportunity in america before the minimum wage. that was designed to limit opportunity and it sure worked.look at the black race. going backwards and voting librul.

tjefson..first of all..you do understand that it was Pres Bush who started the bail out..and Pres Obama continued the efforts after he took office. Yes, Pres Bush. We were as a country (actually as a world economy) in CRISIS..URGENT CRISIS at the time. How soon people forget McCain "suspending" his campaign to rush back to DC to work on the crisis. Obama then was invited also into the meetings, which by all accounts his level head and thinking helped to prevent a great deep depression. (just look it up do not waste time just giving your opinion or the opinion of the right wing extremists)

How quickly do you think a new company would have been formed? How quickly do you think they could have made contracts with all the auto industry companies out there who make parts that go to the auto industry (hmm can you think of any in this county?)

Thank You to both of the Presidents for taking actions that prevented the deep depression that was looming.

oh christopher, you are like judeye. you just cant keep from posting how ignorant you are. So the 1%ers are exploiting the rest of us ? over and over i post how the libs sunk detroit and other major cities. how the teachers union fights choice. Why do they fight choice christopher ? becuz they union wants the money and the controll over our kids. it was NOT like that in america till the liberals took over. the libs are anti business and opportunity. there would be more wealth in america if we got rid of all the regs we see. the govt wants the status quo. its easy to villify people that way. If Bush was bad, why did obama continue many of his terrorist policies. how did you libs get such a big opinion of yourselves ?

concerned..obviously you never took a statistics class or understand ratios or simple math.

It is TIMES..it is a RATIO.

The workers would be buying the same items as you mentioned. Gosh by your logic the workers make even less.

Why dont you take a moment to really try to understand. Look it up. Just google wages workers vs ceo history. Or google income inequality.

What do you fear? That you have been voting for those who take the most from you? Those who truly are doing a wealth redistribution in our Country..Only it is taking from the working/middle class and going straight up to the most wealthy.

"In 2009, this top 1 percent of U.S. households owned 35.6 percent of the nation’s private wealth. That’s more than the combined wealth of the bottom 90 percent....Over recent decades, with incomes for most Americans stagnant, typical American families saved less, and wealth inequality increased."

What part of this do you not understand?

Judeye your constant chirping about the rich earning 354 times more than the average worker compared to 1965 at 24 times. Typical smoke and mirrors the amount of goods you could buy for $1.00 in 1960 would cost you $7.15 in 2009 that is a decrease in value of 715% so the rich are actually making less look it up!!!!

American, good point about envy over money. It's a shame some are incensed with this "income inequality". I think they have this belief that if money was taken from the wealthy, it would be funneled to them.

Probably the greatest harm done by vast wealth is the harm that we of moderate means do ourselves when we let the vices of envy and hatred enter deep into our own natures. Theodore Roosevelt

I wrote dozens of articles and clearly stated ideas that I thought, and I emphasize what I thought, would work. Sometimes the Left wing jumped in my sheet, other times the right wing did. That tells me I struck a fairly even path down the middle.

I have said it MORE THAN A FEW TYIMES, I do NOT care much for President Obama. He's been in over his head since he took office, and I predicted that when he was nominated. That being said, it pains me to see the hoops so many on the right jump through to hold GW Bush COMPLETELY blameless! We have had more than 12 years of totally BS job performance from ALL of our elected officials, a few more to go, and let's be honest, does anyone really see any "savior" on the horizon? All I see are more dogmatic zealots promising to follow economic policies that clearly haven't worked.

Envy over money is a lousy thing. Why does anyone care how much a CEO makes? While I freely admit they are overpaid at the same time I have seen $8 hr. workers that I thought were really overpaid. Get over it people. I can't see this jealousy because some have more then you do.

Okay once more for the cheap seats. Bush suc.ked...no argument there. Apparently DC listens to the people as well as his namesake city does to the people. Here's something for you to think on Dumb Cluck. The current occupant of the Oval office was elected to get us out of the economic mess and both quagmires the previous idiot got us into. Why then is there still billions of dollars a month being spent, and American lives lost, in a country that openly hates us? Could it be your messiah is actually the emperor with new clothes? He's as worthless as the rest but you cheer him on simply for the fact he is half black. I don't give a rat's*****worth of energy worrying about his color you twit. What I care about is he said he was going to undo the damage caused by Bush and has done NOTHING to fix it and everything to exacerbate it. But keep cheering about the color of his skin, not the content of his character.
