One reason the teacher may have not permitted your daughter from doing a paper on abortion is that it is such a controversial issue. The teacher may not have wanted to see such a debate in the classroom. I know that there are several other issues that teachers may discourage students from writing about as well due to their controversial natures.

Of course this is only speculation. For the real reason just ask the teacher. I find sometimes the student does not quite understand the reasons why a teacher restricts assignments.

Teachers should be objective, providing students with facts. Some think facts are too 'liberal' such as learning about climate change and global warming.

Good luck..that is a difficult age to say the least lol...

tjefson..I do not know which school your daughter attends. My grandchildren go to Dunkirk. I have been very impressed with their levels of learning. My granddaughter is in 6th (soon 7th) grade. She is an outstanding reader who really enjoys reading. she is reading the Book Thief right now.

I would suggest giving your daughter some books to read this summer. One suggestion is the June B Jones series. I think they are fun books that the kids enjoy. Many other options out there depending on her interest.

You can buy books inexpensively at the LVA bookstore on 2nd st and washington. Give her some new books to read..give someone else the gift of reading!

Hope to see you and your daughter there picking out summer reads. You will not be disappointed

Steiner, it appears to me the number one requirement to be a public school teacher today is to be a liberal. Conservative thought will not be tolerated at these institutions of learning. My daughter wanted to do a paper on abortion and the teacher would not allow it.

so dk, the many worlds interpretation started in the fifties . the usual wave stuff and many worlds. so dk, are these physicists crazy too or are you just totally ignorant at what science says ? so christ said in my fathers house are many mansions or rooms. the physicists confirm that 2000 years later. dk thinks these guys are nuts. he could not possibly understand what einstein and bohr argued about. dk, do some more reading. you too judye. meanwhile, the libs do the doll test, the libs jim crow and the gals talk about the feminine mystique, it is indeed a mystery to steiner how you libs missed such huge changes from science that the guys i posted earlier have made available to anyone with non mocking mind or one that does not say foxnews all the time. its all there if one reads and knows machines.

so back to reading and what that does. the libs scream foxnews. I read foxnews started in 1996. i have quoted nobel winners in physics. Heisenberg, nobel in 1932, Debroglie, nobel in 1929, bohr, nobel in 1932, einstein, nobel in 1921, the clark doll test , 1939.somehow in judeyes mind all these dates are "after" 1996, the start of foxnews. she could have not possibly looked up anything before posting the drivel she did. dk mocks established nobel science. he knows not a thing. i saw gals on PBS this AM saying how wonderful it was to have gals in leadership positions in business as their mere presence increases profits. then in the next breath, they say that women still lag in pay, income inequality. all at the same time business is making money, the guys are rolling in it, else why do the gals want equality ? would they want equality if the guys made less than gals ? gall logic at its finest.

hey dk, you are getting to be like judeye with your nonsense quotes.she says foxnews ! i quote a famous test for a education altering decison, brown vs board of education, and you say have exact change. many worlds or minds, everett and wheeler would like you for that. they believe in the many world interpretation of quantum mechanics. even the CERN collider in Europe is in many worlds. dk mocks, science marches on.hey posters, why do facts of history elude you or make you mock them. especially when these same facts and decisions led to desegragated schools which led to a mass white flight to the suburbs and the end of buffalo as we know it. look up the dr clark doll test. it is stunning . more stunning was that our leaders thought that integrated schools would help ! it did not. and dk mocks me.and all this time, the boiys club of science just kept on inventing. all this time, ignored or mocked by the libs, just like here. libs , you dont learn much do ya ?

so what should the gals especially learn from all this ? let me tell them ! At the end of the civil war, the gals in the south complained they needed help with their hair and feet. in plainer terms, they needed help with a coiffure, pedicure, manicure and later cancer cure. as far as i can tell this is called liberation to modern gals. later, problems with dolls would arise. still later, steiner trains his mind in the way tesla and the great scientists have done. the bohr and rutherford method, no dolls here folks. just science. hey libs, ever wonder why you are lagging and i call you ignorant ? you are ! historical facts have just sunk the liberals and their methods ! plus i learned form bible scholars who trained themselves in exactly the same way ! Dk, keep those mocks a posting !

so fast forward to the 21st century, dk, judey , cronig and christopher still live in the minds of dolls. the chucky animated doll has more features than the comments posted by some liberals here. i have seen the animation of these dolls and it is fantastic. so the libs are crying for social justice and an end to income inequality and the guys like steiner and that now famous or infamous boys club of science advance science yet again in the world we live in.10,000 lives saved thru chemical magic, all from oil and gas wells. the result ? Dk mocks, judeye says fox news ,cronig, steinerdzz and christopher, fake !

so on the basis of dolls and oranges, brown vs board of education was decided. meanwhile back in the Bell labs, the transistor was being invented at this time. once again the social justice fools, the liberals, missed out on the 2nd great electrical revolution, besides teslas electric system that powers up the world. fact judeye, look it up, and there was not even any fox news at this time too ,judeye. I guess you have to find a better argument.so the gals and the minorities still adhere to a failed science and social model and then wonder why there is such a thing as income unequality ! the libs have not figured out basic science yet ! see root and branch by rawn james jr p221. the dolls have it in liberals minds !

hey tj, here is the reason the public schools are in such a mess. it goes back to brown vs board of education and the experiment used to convince the supreme court that separate but equal was bad, very bad.the Dr Clark doll test was used to show that minority kids prefer white dolls vs brown ones to play with. Yes ! look this up. i could not believe it when i first heard of it ! that and minority kids were seen eating oranges as apples, biting into the skin of the orange, like an apple.the kids did not peel the orange. these problems were thought to be the public schools fault.separate , but equal. so from the basis of dolls and oranges, the learned liberals declared that segregation was very bad for minority kids. i guess they had no parents as my parents taught me how to peel an orange !

dk, you are just like judey and here is the proof. the apostle paul became all things to all people. so do good sales reps. i have been with a number of them on the road to customers. the phrase , once again for you as you forgot it is multiple simultaneous observation. or as henry kahne described it in in his multiple mentality course. the human mind is multi dimensional. something that eludes dk and judeye and the rest of the libs. dk, you have met a genius in steiner, they were called poly maths or polyglots in earlier times. simple folk like you have trouble with advanced thinking .

My wife and I were just discussing last night the disappointment we have in our daughters reading level. She just came out of the 7th grade. My wife is going to work with her this summer on her reading. Once again, these teachers and their union are making top dollar with dreadful results. They can go golfing now while my wife teaches our daughter to read at an acceptable level. I will work with her on the math. My problem with math is the way it is being taught now. Math is own of those things where different methods can be applied to reach the same answer. IMO, they enjoy the scenic route today.

here is what i have learned from reading, especially philosophy, dk, pay attention. African and Asian thought has had little influence over the progress of the west ! of the philosophers , greek and western, they have all been guys! Someone needs to tell obama thuis. obama said the illegal aliens, diversity, are our future when they have done little for the world.another confused liberal. imagine being obama, faced with the enormous tech advamces by the west! hat do you think he says to himself to reconcile all of this. the africans contribution stopped with slavery.the gals ? well, they are still complaining about income inequality. diversity our future ? No way, it is white males. hows that liberals ? Dk ?all obtained from reading a vast anount of books.

dk, you fall for the error that has gripped physics for years ! ever since von neumann's brilliant mental math capabilities, the physicists have been consumed by math and algorhithms, but not actual thinking. i wont list my rare book collection titles as that would give the secret away for the mocked steinertrons.all of thjose books are availabkle for those who know where to look. i was like einstein, who worked in the patent office years ago and simply read a vast amount of literature. we have a budding judeye in dk !

Excellent Renee!

We love to read in this house. We also have been listening to books on tape in the car. Recently centered on Garrison Keillor listening to him tell story after story.

I also have started to actually write letters, thank you notes, etc. I am amazed at how surprised and touched those who receive them seem to be. Hand written note..like something out of the past.

As for the writing of the past, one question, how did they all have such elegant, scripted handwriting? It is almost like art by itself!

Will check on the programs offered at the libraries this summer. The kids sure need more to do than watching movies and playing video games ha ha

hey renee, you are correct, we all should read more. that is and was steiners secret for all he ever did. reading has declined. you quote good civil war era references. what changed after that ? the govt got involved in education. before that it as local thing. today the govt is so involved as to be indoctrination centers. they wont give up control of our minds. you also say lengthy articles are good, maybe sometimes, other times, no. ernest rutherford, nobel winner had scientists working for him. when they wanted to start something new in the lab it was policy that the experiment be described on one single page. if not, rutherford got angry and said. you people dont know what you are doing.he had a huge temper, in need of sensistivity training probably.short and sweet is a good thing many times.
