The sheriff, w/the CCLeg's blessings, has built an "impressive" CCSD over the yrs, but so what? When costs get too high, just sell a valuable public asset (like the county home) for LESS than want we paid to expand it? Besides, LE employees and their families & friends vote, while most of these invalids didn't. Ahlstrom wants to build a new fire hall for the DFD. Where's this money gonna come from? Don't worry about it, the point is, we need it, right? NCWD officials support a new water district, yet with a major drop in usage (revenue) after Carriage House closes, and no new businesses coming here, who's gonna pay for this multi-million $$$ project? Who cares that there are a record # of homes for sale, after all, the county was just bragging about how successful its recent auctioning of properties went.

IMO, the only impression (message) here is how to MIS-manage taxpayer money, more importantly, money we don't have!

This is the problem w/this area. Local munis are more concerned with making an impression & spending money they don't have than with spending within their means. Public schools (BOEs) are the worst offenders! It doesn't matter that student enrollments have steadily dropped b/c EVERYONE still wants to dump MILLIONS into state-of-the-art public bldgs (Vision 2000). Businesses are closing, people are leaving, no new revenues coming in, yet we keep on spending money we don't have?
