He started as a laborer with various positions in the 1950s. He developed land in West Seneca, built West Sheridan Plaza, and owned and operated West Sheridan Supply. He owned Rotunda Real Estate in Fredonia, was an auctioneer, appraiser, contractor, developer and grape farmer with contracts with Welch's. He also acquired, developed and managed several income properties in the area and throughout the state.
He was a former member of the Kiwanis Club, the Northern Chautauqua Chamber of Commerce, the Kosciuszko Club, the First Ward Falcon's Club and the Association of Board of Realtors.
Mr. Rotunda was a true entrepreneur in every sense of the word. His interest were traveling, dancing, playing cards, going to auctions and the animals on his farm. He had a passion for trains, which lead to the development of Rotunda Grapevine Railroad Farm which is shared and enjoyed by family and friends.
He is survived by two sons: Sandy A. Rotunda of Castle Rock, Colo., and Charles A. Rotunda of Montreal, Quebec, Canada; three daughters: Anne Marie Dean of Sarasota, Fla., Ginger Thorne of Laurel, Md., and Barbara Henry of Mequon, Wis.; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Mary R. Salerno of Silver Creek and Angela P. Hopkins of Dunkirk.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Anthony Rotunda; and two sisters: Josephine V. Fisk and an infant sister.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in the Church of Salvation, Rotunda Memorial. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday in the Larson-Timko Funeral Home.
