He was born May 2, 1946, in Jamestown, the son of the late Walter and Ava Barber Stacey
A graduate of Randolph Central School, he served three years in the U.S. Army in Europe as a chaplain's assistant. He had been employed locally by the American Red Cross and Jamestown Metal Products before becoming a resident of the Canandaigua Veterans Hospital and the Elijah House in Leicester, N.Y.
He will be remembered for his wry sense of humor and had his own unique little chuckle.
He is survived by his stepmother, Veva Stacey, of Randolph; two sisters: Nancy Shorterage of Jamestown and Teri Graham of Randolph; and a brother, Dean Stacey of Steamburg.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Peterson Funeral Home, Frewsburg. The Rev. Robert Johnessee, pastor of the Ivory Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in the Ivory Cemetery, Frewsburg.
No visitation will be observed.
