NEW WINDSOR, N.Y. (AP) — State police say a New York City woman has been accused of stealing nearly $400,000 from the Hudson Valley construction company where she used to work.

Authorities say Friday that 47-year-old Christine Coffey of Staten Island was arrested in the borough by state troopers and U.S. Marshals. She was arraigned on a grand larceny charge in New Windsor Town Court and is being held without bail in the Orange County Jail.

Information on her lawyer wasn't available from the district attorney's office.

Investigators say Coffey stole more than $390,000 from a New Windsor construction company where she worked as a secretary. They say she forged more than 600 company checks, then would either cash or deposit them into her bank account.

Officials say Coffey stole the money over several years.
