HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (AP) — A former school official alleges in a lawsuit that he was fired in retaliation for informing the state about a Long Island district's grade-boosting practices.
Newsday (http://bit.ly/1aUKmaT ) says the suit has been filed by Carlos Ramirez. He's the Hempstead (HEHM'-stehd) school district's former director of technology.
Spokesman Todd Shapiro says district officials do not discuss personnel issues publicly.
The district said in July that it would no longer round up failing final course grades to a passing score.
