Upstate NY teen hurt when ATV hits deer in road

HOPKINTON, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities say a teenager is recovering from injuries suffered when his all-terrain vehicle hit a deer on a road in northern New York.

The St. Lawrence County Sheriff's Office tells WWNY-TV in Watertown ( ) that 18-year-old Alex Hanson was driving the ATV Tuesday when he hit the deer on Route 72 in the town of Hopkinton, on the northern edge of the Adirondack Park 135 miles northeast of Syracuse.

Deputies say Hanson was ejected from the vehicle and suffered a broken collarbone and bruises to his left hip and wrist. He was treated at Canton-Potsdam Hospital and released.
