Mr. and Mrs. James Hamilton Pugh

James Hamilton Pugh and Ruth Elizabeth Washington celebrated 69 years of marriage on June 24, 2008. The couple was married June 24, 1939 by the Rev. J. Palmer Muntz, pastor of the Cazenovia Park Baptist Church in Buffalo. Edward M. and Ruth Miller Pugh, brother and sister-in-law of the groom, attended the couple.

They were both born in Dunkirk and graduated from Dunkirk High School in 1937 and 1939, respectively. Mr. Pugh served in the army in Europe during World War II and retired from Allegheny Ludlum Steel Corp. He enjoyed golf and was an avid sportsman. Mrs. Pugh is a homemaker and enjoyed many years as a member of the Dunkirk Garden Club and Fredonia and Cassadaga Baptist churches. Former residents of Dunkirk, Mrs. Pugh currently resides in the couple's home in Cassadaga and Mr. Pugh is a resident of the Chautauqua County Home.

Parents of the groom were Charles E. and Grace Lehan Pugh of Dunkirk. Parents of the bride were Frederick A. and Pearl Jane Siggins Washington of Dunkirk and Arizona.

The couple has two daughters, Bonnie (Leon) Ciesla of Debary, Fla., and Gail Dash of Cassadaga, four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
