Associate pastor arrives at West Portland church

September 19, 2008
Observer Today

WESTFIELD - Ryan S. Grafton has accepted a call to fill the position of associate pastor at the West Portland Baptist Church, located at 7081 Route 20. His candidacy was affirmed by the church membership at a special meeting held on July 13.

Grafton prepared for the ministry by receiving his biblical and theological education in Clarks Summit, Pa. He received a bachelor of science in Bible degree from Baptist Bible College in 1994. His undergraduate work included a year of education in Jerusalem, Israel, at the Institute of Holy Land Studies, now Jerusalem University. He also completed the master of divinity degree from Baptist Bible Seminary in 1999.

Grafton and his family recently moved from Ulysses, Pa., into the church parsonage in Westfield, where he began his pastoral duties as of Sept. 1. He is in the process of assuming all of the day-to-day duties previously handled by the Rev. Gary H. Henry Sr., who has been shepherding the West Portland Baptist Church for the last 38 years. Since Henry is looking forward to retirement, it is suggested that people who need pastoral services contact Grafton at 326-3417.
