Mickey Romance of Dunkirk, NY died Friday afternoon December 12, 2008 at his residence after a sudden illness.

He was 75 years of age, born in Indiana, Pennsylvania on February 4, 1933, the son of the late Mike & Mary (Kundla) Romance. A resident of Indiana, Pa. until

his high school graduation, he joined the U.S. Air Force

where he served with the Air Police during the Korean

Conflict from 1950-54. Following his discharge, he

moved to Dunkirk in 1954 where he was employed as a

firefighter for the City of Dunkirk Fire Department

where he drove the emergency truck until 1977. Follow-

ing his retirement from the city, he was employed as a

steelworker for Al Tech Specialty Steel until his re-

tirement in 1995. He was a member of the Polish

Literary & Assembly Rooms (Dom Polski), the 1st Ward

Falcon Club (Honorary Member), the Kosciuszko

Polish Home & the American Legion Post 62.

Surviving are sons Michael A.(Linda) Romance

of Cheektowaga, NY, Kenneth A. (Amanda) Romance

of Kingsport, Tennessee & Ronald A.( Tricia) Romance

of Fredonia, NY, 6 grandchildren- Steven & Su-

san Romance, Andrew & Ann Romance, David & Jus-

tin Nichols & 2 sisters-Joan Gula of Dunkirk &

Vernie(Donald) Gworek of Fredonia, NY. Nieces &

nephews also survive.In addition to his parents,

he was pre-deceased by his wife Sally (Michalski)

Romance who died December 28, 1994. Funeral services will be

held Tuesday morning at 11:30 from the Newman

Funeral Home, Inc. The Rev. Dennis G. Riter will offici-

ate. Private interment will be in St. Hyacinth's Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 2-4 & 7-9

P.M. Monday. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests

memorials be made to the Dunkirk Free Library.
