Mr. and Mrs. Edward Hilliker

Edward and Margaret Hilliker of Ripley celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary Dec. 27 at the South Ripley Fire Hall with an open house celebration with friends and family. The celebration was given by their children.

Out-of-state guests attended from Pennsylvania, Alabama and Ohio.

Margaret D. Breed and Edward Hilliker were married Jan. 4, 1944 at United Methodist Parsonage in Clymer by Pastor Sharp.

Edward is a former employer of Bucyrus Erie in Erie, Pa., a World War II veteran and grape grower. Margaret is a homemaker and grape grower.

They are the parents of Sally (Dale) Erdman of Northport, Ala.; Sandy (Richard) Light of Ripley; Brian Hilliker of Warren, Ohio; Jo Ann Hilliker (Steve Smith) of Ripley; and Cheryl (Rick) Vaillancourt of Stedman. They have eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Edward and Margaret are members of the South Ripley United Methodist Church. Edward is a member of the Masonic Lodge of North East, Pa., and the Scottish Rite of Erie, Pa. He is also a member of the Zem Zem Shrine Club, where he was the Commander of the Legion of Honor in 1982. Margaret was president of the United Methodist Women at the Park United Methodist Church in North East, Pa. She is a member of Eastern Star Shilo Chapter 153, where she was a Past Worthy Matron in 1982. Margaret was also a 4-H organizational leader of the South Ripley Clovers for 10 years.

Upon Edward's return from the war on Dec. 7 1945, the couple resided in Corry, Pa., until 1948, when they moved to Ripley.
