The second floor ceiling of the house was ablaze when units responded to the scene at 197 E. Second Street in Dunkirk at barely 5 a.m. Sunday.
"First arriving units found a fire in the ceiling of the second floor of a two-family, two-story frame dwelling," Dunkirk Police Captain Allen Loeb said. "The fire was brought under control in about ten minutes."
The fire resulted in no injuries. Loeb said the official cause is listed as failure of equipment for heat source.
"The fire originated around a bathroom ceiling heater fan," Loeb said. "At least one occupant was alerted by the fire and escaped unharmed."
The building sustained "just light damage."
