Hanover Democrats meet, discuss Aug. 30 picnic

HANOVER - The Town of Hanover Democratic Committee met on July 9. Plans for the annual Town of Hanover Democratic picnic were discussed at length.

Diane Hall said Congressman Brian Higgins will be a special guest at the picnic on Aug. 30 at the Hanover Town Park on King Road. Tickets will be available from committee people and club members. Interested people may contact Hall at snead11@verizon.net or 934-4691.

Discussion regarding candidates wishing to run for Town of Hanover Town Council was held. There are two council seats and a justice opening this year. Kevin O'Connell has announced his intention to run for a seat on the council. The committee is interviewing other Hanover Democrats interested in running for justice or the other council seat.

Persons interested in interviewing should contact Committee Chair David Wilder at davetwilder@yahoo.com or by phone at 934-9981. It is expected that interviews will be conducted Aug. 10-11. The Democratic Committee will hold caucus at a date to be announced.

The next meeting of the Town of Hanover Democratic Committee will be held on Aug 13 at the Silver Creek VFW. Meeting time is 7:30 p.m. Committee members and members of the Democratic Club are urged to attend.
