Get Motivated with the Chamber
The Get Motivated Seminar featuring legendary motivator Zig Ziglar, former mayor of New York City Rudolph Giuliani, world famous soldier-statesman General Colin Powell and president and CEO of Forbes, Inc. Steve Forbes is coming to the HSBC Arena. The day-long presentation will take place on Tuesday, Aug. 18 from 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.
Additional speakers will include the greatest quarterback in NFL history Joe Montana; America's most inspirational speaker Dr. Robert Schuller; the world's foremost health expert Dr. Earl Mindell; top sales expert, author of "Get Motivated" Tamara Lowe and other renowned teachers and motivators. The seminar takes place in about 30 cities annually and has for more than 35 years.
Among the speakers' topics will be "How to Stay Motivated" (Ziglar); "The Tenacity to Persevere: How to Make it Through Any Crisis" (Giuliani); "America's Promise: Your Keys to Growth and Opportunity" (Forbes); "Take-Charge Leadership" (Powell); "How to Lead Your Team to Victory" (Montana); "Tough Times Never Last But Tough People Do" (Schuller); "How to Increase Your Health and Energy" (Mindell) and "How to Strengthen Your Sales and Negotiation Skills" (Lowe).
As a special offer to chamber members, the first 100 to sign up receive a ticket to the seminar and bus transportation to and from the event for only $15. Those attending will meet at the Dunkirk Chamber office at 6:00 a.m. to board the bus. The seminar concludes at 4:45 p.m. and attendees will board the bus to return home.

Chamber to host Federal Congressional lunch August 22
Registration is continuing for the Chautauqua County Chamber of Commerce Federal Congressional Lunch with U.S. Congressman Brian Higgins (New York, 27th District). The Federal Congressional Lunch takes place Wednesday, Aug. 19 at Shorewood Country Club in Dunkirk, NY. Registration begins at noon followed by lunch and program at 12:20 p.m.
An open discussion with Congressman Brian Higgins will be held with a focus on federal issues of concern to Chautauqua County's business community. Similar to previous legislative events, the focus of discussion will be on topics submitted by the audience or in advance to Jenny Ingrao, Director of Public Relations at jingrao@chautauquachamber.org.
The Federal Congressional Lunch is sponsored by Brooks Memorial Hospital, Chautauqua Institution, NRG Dunkirk Power LLC, OBSERVER and The Post Journal.

Chautauqua Marina celebrates National Marina Day-Free Activities and fundraising events
Mayor Marty Bova has proclaimed Saturday, Aug. 8, 2009 National Marina Day in Mayville, New York. The celebration will be held at Chautauqua Marina from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Chautauqua Marina is located at 104 West Lake Road, across from Webb's Year Round Resort. The event is Open to the Public.
Activities include an On-Site Poker Run benefiting the Chautauqua Lake Association, a Free Youth Fishing Contest, a Silent Auction benefiting the Chautauqua Women's Club, Young Women's Group, a Food Tent provided by the Brick Village Gourmet and The Watermark Restaurant (Breakfast & Lunch), Free Lectures, Boat Demo Rides and a Community Yard Sale.
If you have "stuff" to sell at the Community Yard Sale, you can secure a booth for a donation of $10. Proceeds from Yard Sale Booths will be donated to the Chautauqua Watershed Conservancy and the Chautauqua Lake Association. In addition 5 percent of the Silent Auction and the Food Tent proceeds will be donated to the Chautauqua Watershed Conservancy and the Chautauqua Lake Association.
