A steak and crab leg dinner was had by John and Jeri Wiedenhofer celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary, in their home with family, daughter, Tawnie (Ken) Denmead and son, John Jr. (fiancee Alicia) and their three gransons, Christopher, Devon and Cody, who Jeri refers to as her "heartbeats," all of Fredonia.
The couple were marrried on Sept. 29, 1969, in Covington, Ky., while John was serving in the United States Army. In June 1970, he was sent to Viet Nam, where, after 18 days he was shot and seriously wounded. After being sent back to the states, he spent one year and 7 months in Valley Forge Hospital, Philadelphia, Pa., where he underwent several operations. He was then honorably discharged and retired from the Army in March of 1972, permanently disabled.
John is a postal clerk in the Dunkirk Post Office. Jeri is a retired hair stylist/nail technician, having owned her salon in Forestville. She is busy now as a seamstress, has several hobbies and spends time with her "heartbeats"(grandsons).
