Sorry for the late response. I commend you on your search for good and honest government. As the only registered Independent in our county government, I have continued to work toward supporting initiatives that benefit our taxpayers and not the political parties and their individual caucuses. I feel strongly that we should reduce our county government to 15 legislators. This is extremely possible and still provides strong representation for our constituents. If I could get support for an even greater reduction, I would look to reduce to only 12 and still believe that we can represent our county well.
I believe that we can consolidate/downsize much of what we do today i.e. schools, towns/villages, and still provide great services to our taxpayers. I feel that strong union representation makes this very difficult but would be glad to work in any manner to see these things through.
I have no issue with bids being presented so that taxpayers can view the top 3. I feel that an informed taxpayer best holds government accountable. Any measures taken to better inform taxpayers is only a benefit to all of us.
