ARKWRIGHT - An update of progress made on the Arkwright Summit Wind Farm was provided by Horizon Wind Energy project manager Tom Stebbins. The information was read by Arkwright Supervisor Frederic Norton at a recent town board meeting.
Stebbins noted Horizon is working for a resolution from the county's Industrial Development Agency regarding the PILOT (payment in lieu of taxes) agreement with the county, town and school district involved.
He said this work has to be done before Horizon moves forward with the final environment impact statement and permit applications.
"We recently finalized the archeological field work that was based on input from the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) with the final draft being developed," Stebbins' memo indicated.
He also noted that no historically significant artifacts were discovered in the most recent round of field work and expects to file an amended report shortly.
"We hope the amended study, along with the previously submitted mitigation plan, will give SHPO everything they need to provide a memorandum of understanding for the Arkwright Summit Wind Farm," Stebbins said.
The mitigation plan involves restoration work at the two cemeteries owned by the town.
