James Sr. and Ethel Carpenter of Brocton recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. The couple was married on July 16, 1960 at Stockton Community Church. Mrs. Carpenter is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Link. Mr. Carpenter is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Carpenter Sr. Wedding attendants were Margaret (Walker) Gilgora and the late Joseph Gilgora.
Mr. Carpenter is retired from Heil Transportation, where he was employed as a truck driver for 43 years. Mrs. Carpenter worked at Brocton Central School and BOCES.
The couple has two sons, James Carpenter Jr. of Brocton and Scott Carpenter of Westfield, and one daughter, Michelle Cambria of Portland. They have eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The Carpenters' children had a recent anniversary party for the couple at the Brocton American Legion, with guests attending from Tennessee, North Carolina, Florida, Virginia, Pennsylvania and many cities in New York state.
