Tidioute ballfield getting needed addition
September 7, 2010
Thanks to some state grant money passed along by Warren County, the Tidioute ballfield should soon have a new concession stand and restrooms.
County Grants Administrator Lorri Dunlap said two bids were opened last Monday.
The low bid was for $24,950 by Innovative Construction and Mechanical of Clarendon.
The other bid came in at more than $40,000 more, she said.
Dunlap said the county commissioners could approve the bid at their meeting on Wednesday.
If they do, the funding will come from the state.
“We’re using Community Development Block Grant funds,” Dunlap said.
The restrooms and concession stand will be located in the same building.
The restrooms will be located on the second floor of the building and will be handicapped accessible from the street level, Dunlap said. The concession area will occupy the first floor, at the level of the field.
Dunlap said she is hopeful that the construction could be complete in time for use in the spring.
The field, at the corner of Main and McGuire streets, “never had restrooms,” Dunlap said. “This will be very nice.”
In the past, spectators and athletes sometimes used the restroom at the fire hall across the street if the building was open.
